Yes and he was back then, but now we have Noble it’s no secret him and Long don't get on. He didn't want to stay, so what? It's no biggy now. It would have been under the circumstances before Koukash, but now we need to trust in Koukash and he decided Noble was right, so if that means sacrificing Long then so be it.

The stability will come. We're now in a period of upheaval which was inevitable after the takeover. Considering we're all expecting a shedload of new players next year then immediate stability isn't going to happen - planning ahead by getting a new coach and backroom staff in now is a good move. Unless, of course, you think our current game plan is working perfectly well and we should just wait until the end of the season before trying to put anything new in place giving less time for the entire club to adjust?

No one, realistically, expects anything out of this season. Working towards having a stable, solid club for next season is the best possible thing we can do. If Long resigning is a part of that then so be it.

He used to be reasonable and lucid. Recently, he seems to have had a 'forum Breakdown'. Sniping, baiting, and throwing out some weird posts.

I'm not having a pop, SCR Seadiver, I'm genuinely concerned that a rational poster is sliding into the abyss.

When you are trying to change the club, there will be inevitable casualties (Phil Vievers) There will be those who for whatever reason don't think it is right for them and leave of their own free will (Sean Long). I think Sean was respected by the players, and they will be sad to see him go. But I expect a good few of the players will not be at the club next season anyway, so if we are to have upheaval let's get it out of the way now and start to build a stable base on the back room and coaching staff.

Best of luck Longy, gave us good service and put 100% effort in that is appreciated by the fans. However we move on to bigger and better things, best decision for all parties.

I think the timing is deliberate and really lousy two days before a game considering the new coach won't take the reigns until Monday. Fair enough if he wants to leave but do it right, be professional and resign after Sundays game.

This said, at least we won't have a scenario from the start where someone of influence isn't pulling in the direction Brian Noble wants to take us.

Although coaches move on and people bring in there own assistants, I am gutted Sean has left. He stuck with us during the bad times and no one can doubt the enourmous effect he has had on young sneyd in the time he has been here, and theo as well come to think of it. I hope Noble brings in someone of equal calibre who works with the attack in the same way, if anyone who doubted seans ability to coach half backs just has to look at how bloody good we were ball in hand when he had decent half backs to work with ie DJ and smith with Pattern as full back/ standoff, the best ball in hand half backs and attacking play I have seen Salford play for decades.

Noble wants to bring is own staff,and the Dr agree's,we have got a coach with one of the best records of the super league era,that will do for me.

Any manager wants, and needs, staff around him that he can trust 100 per cent to transform the vision into reality. Thinking of who Nobby has worked with and who could help us out, from the left field, Paul Deacon. I think Nobby took him to Wigan, where as far as I am aware he still works in a coaching capacity. As a player got Bradford around the pitch and always seemed tactically aware. I might be barking up the wrong tree, but could do a job for us, and I am sure he is trusted by Nobby.

I suspect the assistants role has already been filled but not announced,while they waited for Longs inevitable resignation

I'm in no doubt we will now get two new assistant coaches rather than one. Watch this space.
