Think the fact that we saw Evalds excel at fullback, Syned and Fages in the halves and Owen show a bit of class for his try that some of the senior players must be really cacking it that the Doc intends bringing in so many new players and the youngsters are proving where the future lies.
Hate to say anything negative about the club captain but sorry Wild seemed today to look like he was being targeted by Hull, think we need as a priority a hard tackling no nonsense #13 who has some ball handling skills.

#13 as ball handler is not the norm anymore. If we've got a ball handler at 1 we could afford an extra carrier in that position, if you look at Mauro on you tube, he's tailor made for the hard tackling role.

Rose coloured glasses!
Evalds caught the high ball well and delighted that he didn't let the side down but ,other than being competent,he impressed by simply not making mistakes.Didnt pose a threat.
Sneyd cost us 2 tries. Kicked out on the full and had a kick charged down.
Theo anonymous.
Owen,I like.
Look, I think it's important not to criticise these boys and dent their confidence but its also important not to big them up.
They are probably ones for the future but,for heavens sake, lets not think you can build a competitive team around the kids.
Reality check,please.

| I like Owen as well but thought he was pretty poor today apart from a bit of magic for his try. Couple of knock ons due to lack of concentration, his distribution wasn't as good as usual neither was his tackling. I think the kid is class & is the future but just didn't think he was his usual self today. Evalds had a decent game but didn't think he was tested that much as Hull's kicking game was pretty poor, Sneyd from what I have seen of him is a better bet at Full Back than in the halves. To be honest I think Foran was our best after against the Giants & was disappointed he was dropped, think he showed signs of leadership that game & I felt we lacked a bit of direction today without him. Performance felt a bit flat for me & it was a poor game overall IMO but the effort was there and we looked fit which was pleasing.

You dont like the kids do you Bonita? Your mate Nobby will be doing without them no doubt and bring in half a dozen six foot amazon mercenaries to replace them. The brand of Rugby will change no doubt to accommodate the colossuses so brought in and the young uns will have to tread water for a couple of years and then move on. However for me they have shown that they all will make it as they have been well taught.
On the subject of `teaching` the coaches need to sort out Dixons hopeless lobbed passing and surely Gleason has to play LEFT centre to accommodate his distribution (to Broughton). Currently his inside ball from right centre is not being picked up by anyone.

| That's a bit unfair !
I'd love the kids to succeed but I do have a problem with people wanting the kids in,just because they're kids.
I think Theo and probably Owen will succeed, and I'm pleased that they've had the exposure and experience that our lack of alternatives has given them.
But,you can't take a couple of competent things done in a match and translate that into them being first team regulars.
We need experience in the spine of the team,as someone else said,1,6,7,9,13.
Do you really think the current crop can give you that, except on an occasional basis?

Well we will agree to disagree. The kids included so far (Ford still awaiting his chance) have great potential and with quality coaching I feel they will all make it. First time I have seen Evalds at Full Back and he seemed just OK and I too was surprised he was given MoM by a seasoned pro from the 70s.

| Gleeson was good but he for me off loaded to many balls to the phantom inside player.
We're very lucky to have talent like Snyed and Evalds at the back and where they have very different things to offer think until the team offers a greater attacking threat that Evalds looked more tactically aware on the back foot and he was very assured under the high ball.
Do think we'd have had a much better chance of winning today with Foran bossing the show and Theo outside him, Sneyd is a great talent but doesn't yet have that aura that we need out on the park.

| Some of the comments on here about our young players are ridiculous, I'll leave it at that .
Foran was injured not dropped, he picked up a quad injury .

| Not a great game, both teams made plenty of mistakes and while we were never quite up to it, neither were we ever quite out of it. We are in transition, and we shouldn't lose sight of that. Encouraging for me, apart from Theo ( a product of our Academy, all the same) the rest of our players were English, no imports, and five from the Academy. Hull also had a lot of kids from their Academy, so plenty of players still learning their trade. We will have to see what the rest of this year brings and what transpires next year before we second guess what Brian Noble will bring to us. I hope he does beef up the pack, haven't we all complained for years that we are too small in the forwards. With decent go forward some of our youngsters playing in the backs may also develop quicker and help us kick on to the next level.

I can only tell you what I heard and it came from the horse's mouth prior to the game Middleman.

| I like Foran.
We would have been better with him playing yesterday.
But,at Widnes he seemed to chuck it.
When the wheels came off and we needed someone of his experience to be talking to the players, especially the kids,he seemed just to be shaking his head.
So,I think it was far more his attitude than his play that caused him to be dropped,if that's what in fact happened
