Quote: Wigan/Leeds Andy "We've scored more points and more tries than anyone else so far, so I wouldn't say we concentrate all our efforts on defence or defensive tactics.'"

Before jumping the gun, your team DO concentrate their efforts defensively, it's what sets-up the team for attacking plays. You have scored plenty off the back of effective defense. Do you think you would have been in any position to score half the points you have if it wasn't for hard defense with the position, possession and forced errors it brings.

Jesus, a few Pies quick scan a post or someone else's short-sighted reply and blurt out some serious finger-drivel.

Scoring lots of points in RL is usually built on the back of hard defense, with you lot watching them week in and week out I'd have thought it was as obvious to you as it has been to me...

Or maybe not.

Quote: Deano G "Well, here's the good news for all you Salford fans out there, yes all 5 of you! You'll get to see at first hand what exciting, attacking rugby and uncompromising defence looks like on Sunday.

You're in for a real treat. Wigan are playing some fantastic rugby at the moment, there are some very exciting young players - the Tompkins brothers, Mossop and Phelps to look out for, as well as players like O'Loughlin and Richards, Wigan legends at the peak of the powers. What a pity that you can't watch players of this standard every week. Oh well, never mind.
Mate, this is what I've been talking about recently. Let me reiterate.
I work in Wigan. My Dad lives in Atherton. I find the folk in Wigan to be a really friendly, easy-going and approachable group. Their fans, in the main, reflect my opinion of most Wiganers. Yet, every so often, some turd pops up on here and prematurely ejaculates over himself whilst typing a series of self-loving semi-truths in order to make himself feel of some importance in the overall scheme of the universe. In the meantime, the rest of us, including your own fans have to read your mindless drivel; all safe in the knowledge that you indeed, are a turd.
Now, for the sake of reasoned debate (And I use the term 'reasoned' loosely on this particular thread.) may I quote a mod on this forum... Contribute something constructive and worthwhile, or pi$$ off!

Quote: Father Ted "Wigan's style of play is only unpopular with coaches who's teams have been soundly beaten.
Kear last week had 54 put past his lot.
Agar a few weeks back had a pop at Wigan after his crew had let in 48 points.
Never mind them banging on about Wigan's defencive tactics. They are coaches they should employ some defensive tactics of their own instead of getting scores like that put past them.'"

That just about sums it up nicely.
Wigan have only mesed up once this season I doubt they will fall into the same trap again, especialy after our results against Hull and Huddersfield , so with that in mind I`m predicting a Salford win.
Reds 25 Wigan 22

Like the way you wrote that matey.

However, I fear Wigan my be little too hot to handle. It's been a while since they've won anything down there and thus the players are far less likely to slip up... icon_sad.gif Let's hope I'm wrong.

Don't you get it RP? They're trolling - it's the absolute pinnacle of satire (rlaccording to some hererl). It's absolutely hilarious....no, seriously. Why bother even talking about the game when you can just slag off the opposing club and scream 'bite' whenever anyone replies to one of your posts. Brilliant! icon_wink.gif

Post of the Week! a014.gif

You said ALL their effort on defence - which is clearly bollox and is the bit I have issue with. Don't get all defensive (see what I did there?) because you've been picked up on it. Yes we've been very good defensively, but our attack has been equally good if not better and that has not just been down to boring the opposition into submission. You only have to look at the fact we have three out of the top 4 try scorers, who play in wide positions. Our attacking structure is light years ahead of where it was under Noble.

You can't be serious. Not after the ridiculous post by The Black Cat.

The point I was making (without resorting to personal abuse) was that actually Wigan ARE worth watching. Despite the bitter comments from beaten coaches in recent weeks and the nonsense posted on this thread, Wigan are playing very attractive attacking rugby at the moment, the team is much better to watch than in the Noble days when we were boring but no-one criticised us because we weren't top of the league! Our defence is fantastic - Saints couldn't score against us when we had 13 men on the park on Good Friday. And we have some players who really are worth watching at the moment. As you will find out on Sunday.

And as for arrogant Wigan fans, the fact that so many people in RL hate Wigan with an unreasoning passion just encourages many Wigan fans play up to the image that the Wigan haters have of the club and its fans. Just look at this thread - there's a ridiculous allegation on here that you hear repeated over and over again, that we "nearly killed" RL - actually I thought that was down to inept management, player development and coaching at other clubs. Though at the time we were "nearly killing" RL, Great Britain could actually give the Aussies a game at international level.....

And to answer another couple of points, firstly I am old enough to remember Central Park. Secondly, do we "belong" at the top? Well its early days yet but we do look like we are getting back to being one of the leading clubs in the game after a decade in the wilderness and I make no apologies for being very happy about that. We don't "deserve" to be top dogs, it isn't our "right" to win things. Winning trophies isn't our right, success has to be earned. But the club has massive potential, Wigan is a hotbed of RL and the support for the club is unrivalled - what other team would see its crowds go up substantially in a season in which it battled relegation? The last decade has been wasted, you can't really blame Wigan fans for being a bit enthusiastic now that we finally have a team that can take on Saints and Leeds.

So, you claim that;

Quote: Deano G "The point I was making (without resorting to personal abuse) was that actually Wigan ARE worth watching.'"

but what you actually posted was;

Quote: Deano G "Well, here's the good news for all you Salford fans out there, yes all 5 of you! ..... What a pity that you can't watch players of this standard every week. Oh well, never mind.

Think Red Preacher had you bang to rights mate, and trying to act all reasonable after simply doesn't cut it.

WIGAN WARRIOS head-coach Maguire is also sweating over the fitness of hooker Thomas Leuluai ahead of this weekend's game with Salford City Reds, with the New Zealand international suffering a bruised foot against Wakefield.

Mark Riddell, Andy Coley, Harrison Hansen and Amos Roberts are already ruled out..
