Not stalking, honest. Its just that you're the one thats hit the nail on the head. I think it will get much worse as teams that are being overtaken by you will start crying foul. Accusations of salary breaches and any other rumour that fits.

We need a scrum half with a kicking game, so that rules out Myler and Robinson (I'd rather have Sneyd than both of these anyway).
Do you think Wigan would sell Smith?
Fages is even younger, less experienced than Sneyd, but he lots of potential, again at the moment I'd rather have Sneyd.
The lack of good young British half's is the reason why it is worth paying 100K for a player who could be atop half for the next team years.
Bateman who had played less game than than Sneyd went for a similar amount to Wigan and has proved a good signing, I'd imagine if Wigan had to sell Burgess who would command a decent fee also. I'd rather spend 100K on a young British player then sign an average overseas player like we have done in the past.
The fee doesn't effect the club as it will be out of Pearsons pocket.
I dont see why Hull and Salfords fan are arguing, you have 2 good halfs and one with potential and get some money, while we get a half than we have lacks for years.

It's less fans from Hull and Salford but more the infestation of inbreds we've had too deal with while Castleford thought they might tempt Sneyd with the promise of a marble, the lint from the owners pocket and half a packet of Rolos.
I think it's a brilliant deal for two clubs with wealthy owners, the wealth matters as Pearson can obviously afford the amount paid, the Doc gets good money and doesn't lose face and for me I get the smug warm feeling that Sneyd hasn't gone to Castleford.

| It's alright,
100K was far too much for a player who's only had 20 good SL games.
We've signed Ben Roberts, no fee involved who's played 140 games in the NRL. Not saying he's a world beater, but at this time. Daryl Powell rates him much higher than Sneyd.
So it's good business for all 3 clubs.

Someday, somewhere, today’s empires are tomorrow’s ashes.: |

I think the difference is that these four products of the Salford Half Back Finishing School are all out and out scrum-halves, using the traditional definition of a scrum-half as being short and mobile (mobile-ish in Matty Smith's case). Marc Sneyd is more of a stand-off.
Treating Marc as a scrum-half, I'd certainly put him behind Matty Smith, because Matty can organise and I'm not sure Marc can. Robinson and Fages are different types of player altogether, while Myler is just the poor man's Danny McGuire (who we also got a fair whack for).

| I'm sure Fages is a French product and Myler started at Widnes.

Stop being pedantic.
They cut their teeth at Salford, irrespective of starting their development elsewhere. I think that's what is being referred to.

We have given Marc a chance to play in a semi-final and a potential Wembley appearance though - something that both Salford and Hull FC are miles away from unfortunately.

We got to Wembley last year with an average team, it could happen next season who knows, if Widnes can get this close I'm sure Hull and Salford could next year. Obviously it won't happen this year, but it could next year, so thats a bit of a silly post.

Dave - it was aimed at a comment regarding finances and winning pay. I have no doudt Hull will come good sooner rather than later.

Apologies for dragging this thread back to an earlier point but this is the first time since last post I've come across here.
On this point JGR, you're completely and utterly wrong. Most people listed Sneyd as their starting half. Here's a thread for you
www.casforum.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... =3&t=24963
The real conundrum was the Dorn/Seymour/Ellis situation. Lining up alongside Seymour was the expectation.
As the season got nearer people selected Sneyd and Finn, obviously when Finn signed and after the friendlies.

The question I was asked was name British scrum halves they could have got for less- so I answered. I hope it works out for Sneyd -as god knows we need an international half back mcbananaman is willing to pick. (I'm sure the Irish cap will be overlooked) but 100k is over the odds IMO.
Few players go for that transfer fee, fewer with just a year left on contract and for just a handful of top level games there's ..... Well..... Who?
