| Quote TheButcher="TheButcher"I don't disagree with your assessment, however there are ways and means to go about things and these two players went about them in the wrong way, imo. It's one thing to back the Club into a corner but they carry along with them the people who pay money to watch them and the team. Maybe it's acceptable collateral to the eventual outcome from their perspective, but to the people who are the lifeblood of any sporting Club it should leave a bitter taste. None of this really matters now as SL status has been retained so everyone is feeling a sense of relief, but the actions of these two key players at a key time in the Clubs season could have changed this outcome and people seem to be forgetting this.'"
This - It tells you so much about the characters of these players and were better off rid.

| There will be many differing opinions about the Theo episode, however, our club has been mismanaged from the core, and none of us will ever know the full extent of wrongdoing across the board...
Remember, it hasn't just been playing staff that have had issues, some employees behind the scenes have also been sh@t on, many loosing their jobs - or had all those people turned their backs on the club???
Theo could've played but he didn't... perhaps, this situation could end up being the massive kick up the backside that the management/owner requires to ensure player/staff welfare/contracts are administered correctly from now on.

| Quote TheButcher="TheButcher"What they're paid is irrelevant. They are two professional sportsmen who shafted the Club at key times. Deliberately and with intent to further their own projects. What they're paid, how long they played for us, doesn't matter. They should have been professional enough to get on with the job. In my eyes, they are both the same in this regard.'"
If I am paying one player £40k and the other £215k, I would expect a damn site more from the higher paid one. It is also worth remembering that whilst both have shafted the club at key times, but the club have also shafted them.
I'm not disputing Theo could have handled the fall-out better, but I am not going to use it against him in wishing him well. He's better off away from Salford if the truth be known and he couldn't have got himself a better club than Saints. Rangi on the other hand seems destined for Leigh, which speaks volumes.
I just hope this is the end of such fall-outs, as the only people who suffer are the fans. Not just by seeing good players leave the club, but also the difficulty in attracting new ones due to reputational damage. Some tough lessons have been handed out to Koukash and Vickers over the last 18 months, lets see if they've learnt anything.

| I'm with Butcher on this one.
They both acted wrongly, and pay has nothing to do with it.
Indeed I think Theo's agent said that it wasn't about money.
Undoubtedly, though,we will remember Theo with far more affection than Chase, as he's been a massive disappointment. I'll remember THAT pass but that's about it.

| There have been players who have left us who I have looked forward to seeing play us in the next seasons ... simply because they went about it the right way. Ratchford is one example (and Smethurst for those over a certain age). I hope to look upon Fages in some of this regard. He has moved to a different firm to better himself.
I do not want to watch Leigh next year. I do not know what the players going there are thinking but but they are going into a confrontation between the Leigh owner (and management) and RL. They are surely aware of this probability and their roles within it. I wonder if I can support this action.
So I differentiate between the two players.

| No matter what has gone on behind scenes the fact of the matter is Theo walked out on us and his team mates with the most important 7 games of the clubs recent history left. He had the chance to stay and play, he chose not to and for that I can’t forgive him. I’m not bitter about him moving to a better club and improving his career, I don’t blame him for that, in fact I admire that, but there is a right and wrong way to go about things. He could have played the 7 games (depending on selection obviously) and left at the end of the season with everyone’s best wishes.
I don’t understand how our fans can give Myler dogs abuse and then worship the ground Theo walks on. What Theo has done is far far worse than what Myler did and we got a hefty fee for Myler lets not forget that. Theo on the other hand has screwed us over big time, by walking out and leaving himself open for Saints to get him for next to nothing. Very tactful Theo, not. Yes he may have been advised to do this, but he had the choice at the end of the day. The lad has shown his true colours here.

| Am I the one who thinks Chase will be a miss for us? Jesus who we bringing in that is better? Apart from the ban which was a bit farcical, he's been in great form this year, don't get me wrong I don't like how he forged his way out and its pi$$ poor, but but you cant say he hasn't played well this year when on the field.

Chase will be a huge miss no doubt about that. Outstanding player and without his suspension we would have been comfortably in the top 8.

| Most teams would miss Chase, the top teams though could possibly carry a player who is more of a show pony than solid half back.
I think had he not missed the games he did due to suspension that the top 8 would have been a much easier target, the suspension was harsh but ultimately foolish on his part to tackle in the way he did, which again is another reason why we are possibly better off without him.
It has occurred to me that his well publicized meltdown a couple of weeks ago now seems to have been forgotten, is it a case of that story being generated to nudge the club into letting him go?

| There is nobody unhappier than us on how Theo left the club, tried talking to him to see the season out,but his head had been turned by a certain person over 18 months ago, when we was also approached to advise him to leave the club, which we declined to do. Eventually, amongst other things happening, Theo's head was turned & he became unhappy. The walking out was a decision he was advised to do to fulfill somebody else's ambition & get back at the club.
Youngsters need to be wary of people bearing gifts!!!!!

Thank You Shirley for enlightening us with your background Info. I know you spent a lot of time with Theo from being very young.
I think Theo whilst he played for Salford always gave 100% and worked his socks off in some trying times. I think he's a very good young prospect but not quite the finished article. I think he'll go on to be a very good player in the future and thrive with some good coachng.
I too was extremely disappointed with the manner of his exit strategy. I'll remember him with fond memories apart from his exit. He could have left by finishing the season to ensure our survival and with grace such as Stef and David Hodgson. Maybe his age played a part in his descision
Good luck to the lad.

I'm assuming Shirl that we'll need to wait a LONG time before you'll divulge who's turned his head?
