| I think we're increasingly looking like Dobson's team. He's calling most of the moves, deciding when to pass, run or kick. We seem to be playing much more conservatively than we were last season and earlier this. That was what we needed yesterday. You could see it against Wakey, Cas and Widnes too to a lesser extent. At one point in the first half yesterday Chase went on a mazey cross field run which ended with a risky long pass and no metres made. Dobson ran over, bollocked him, pushed him away and put himself at first receiver. No way Smith or Fages could do that to Rangi. Clearly the teams instructions were to play a tight, controlled game to keep hold of the ball (we made 6 handling errors all game which is good for us, esp in those conditions) and Dobson was gonna make sure we did
That said you can see that the partnership is growing. Dobson leads us round the park, gets the forwards where he wants them and gives the ball to Chase to play the bigger, rangier moves. You could see at times yesterday Rangi was choosing to try something off the cuff, pretty much always in their 40. And you can see that they control different sides of the attack at times. All really encouraging.
I think as their partnership develops that we will see Rangi coming back into it more but at the right times and territory, unlike last year when he had to do it all. There will also be games like yesterday when we need a tight, controlled attack and others when the conditions and opposition suit where we can be more free flowing.

| Quote Iain="Iain"The team deserves credit for the fact that they had to reshuffle after 15 minutes and were down an interchange player from that point. We're fortunate that we have a back-rower who can play centre and a winger who's comfortable at fullback.'"
I agree. We've seen in games earlier in the season that we struggled to adapt. I think it's partly the team spirit and being more prepared to fight for each other than we were

| Quote BartonFlyer="BartonFlyer"Of course if you look over on the Huddersfield board the result was only down to the ineptitude of Mr Child and how we took better advantage of that than they did!
FWIW I thought the ref was completely even handed and kept things moving along well especially given his reputation for being whistle happy.
What a set of whingers the Giants are though, the waving of arms after a tackle looking for penalties and Brough's continual stream at the referee - just not needed or wanted in RL
But back to the performance - best this season from us and certainly Dobson's best in a Salford shirt to date - let's hope for even better on Monday'"
give over, not one giants fan has said Salford didn't deserve to win that game, the fact that most of us were frustrated with the refereeing doesn't mean that we can't praise the opposition on being the better team.
you are right though about child, he did keep things moving, because he refused to penalise BOTH teams for laying on, stood offside, not been square etc
as for your comment about us being whingers, then don't every rugby league team do this?

| I actually think Hudds fans are breaths of fresh air compared to most opposition fans. I mean, just look at the thread on here from the cult of Leigh...
Most of the hudds fans on their board are pretty level-headed. They have the same number of individuals as any other Club with regards to those infected with the disease of RL. Namely refereeing obsession and myopia. Something we suffer greatly from too.

| Meast - your gracious comments are appreciated and welcome over here. But even you must know deep down that when it comes to whinging, moaning and generally acting like a spoilt petulant 4 year old, Brough is in a different class. Even Wilkin and Wellens struggle to keep up...

| we have admitted that it is a problem for Broughy, and when he gets that head on it's bad to watch,
but to say we whinge more than most is rubbish.
players and fans get frustrated when things don't go their way, it's just human nature.

| No coincidence in that the 4 games Brough has decided to have a whinge or 2 we've lost, the other's where he's decided to be a class half-back and captain we've won convincingly.
Good turnout by your guys and good to see plenty of you out in town after too !

| Meast - How would that compare with the likes of Widnes/Cas/Wakey/HKR ?
