my guess is the SMC will be digging up the pitch after the Yawnion season.
their last home game is 9th may , then we have Huddersfield at home the day after, then no games until July 5th.

Someday, somewhere, today’s empires are tomorrow’s ashes.: |
|
| Quote: Bonita Red "
Is that right ?
I've never heard it explained like that before.
Cant you just have fixtures in the second half of the season, being a mirror image of the first half ?'"
Imagine a four team league. Here are your first four rounds of fixtures:
1st round
A v C
B v D
2nd round
C v A
D v B
3rd round
A v D
B v C
4th round
D v A
C v B
Where do you go now? A and B have fulfilled their fixtures against C and D, and C and D have fulfilled their fixtures against A and B. A haven't played B yet, and C haven't played D. In order to do that, one of A and B must play away in round 5 having already been away in round 4, and one of C and D must play at home in round 5 having already played at home in round 4.
In order for every team to have alternating home and away fixtures, you inevitably create two groups of teams based on where they play on the first day of the season. A and B are both at home on the first day and, thanks to alternating fixtures, away for their next matches, then home, then away...... Same with C and D. Teams in the same group can never meet because they will always be at home or away at the same time, so A can never play B, nor C play D. One way around it is to break the groups by switching teams between them, and doing that means they end up playing consecutive home and/or away games. (e.g., team A are in group 1, and group 1 are at home this week. Now we move them to group 2. Group 2 must have been away this week and therefore must be at home next week. As a new member of group 2, team A are now at home for the second week, their second home game in a row.) You could do it with partial midseason breaks too, but I think that would be less popular.

| I don't think it's a bad thing having 5 of our last 7 games away. Lets get the points on the board early doors.

Your in dreamland if you think Leeds and Salford would merge that will never happen: |
|
| Can't believe A have got to play C twice in the first two weeks! Total conspiracy that.

Momentum would be my concern. If you’re scraping into the super 8, or dropping into the flabby mid-section, you need to be hitting the ground running. Of course, if we're in the top four come the split, we'll be alright.

Salford Red Devils RLFC.

| I don't think we will have a better chance of beating either Warrington or Saints during the course of the season, than we will have in the first few weeks running up to the World Club Series.

It's all because the RFL want A's owner, Dr E, to stop criticising them.

Hmm
Population of Salford 230,000
Salfords average home gate 2014 -4,738.
so 98% of the city have already forgotten us,and found other things to do - probably more if you factor the fans who travel in from outside the city boundaries to watch us.
lots of work to do and no home games in June isn't the biggest hindrance to entice another 1% -1.5% of the citizens to turn up .
A club shop & the correct badge on the Stadium would be a start .

There will be no easy games , facts are we ended up 10th position , so there were only 2 teams below us , and they both hammered us by clear margins away.
Last season we started out with 2 wins against understrength sides, that maybe gave us a false impression of where we were in development.
If we have any pretensions to ending the regular season in the Top 8 rather than the bottom 4 , the squad have to aim for winning at the HJ & turning over Saints at Home .

Totally agree.
When you put it like that, it's a wonder that we exist at all based on the interest of the Salford public.

| Why not pick the Wakefield game and try to turn it into a home game, get as many people as we can to go. see if we can get the Doc to put on free transport or do a deal on ticket prices. It`s usually one that is well supported but any ideas to keep the interest going over the dead period is worth considering.
I know it isn`t income for the club but we need to do something over this period to keep the profile up.
On profile great to see Prince Harry promoting Rugby in our city yesterday, oh no of course not League

The team winning games of rugby league would be a good starting point.
