NOT YOUR LIFE STORIES! haha

Think everyone accepts that the new stadium is pretty much a last chance saloon for the club to get it right, however it is a new start for the fans as well, we can do a lot more than we think to help the club grow attendances etc.
This time last season peope we saying 'top 8' etc cos we had signed so called big name players. Didn't quite work out like that did it? Now everyone is complaining about a lack of signings meaning we will struggle next season. Who's to say it won't have the opposite effect. Big signings don't guarantee success, as we saw last season.
As for the sqaud, not sure why Davidson and Marriott are written off on here after one superleague apperance, unless anyone has been watching them regularly for the academy. Hopefully someone will show a bit of faith in Sneyd and give him 4-5 games although he will proabably have to wait for injuries. How many people have seen Gledhill play? James is not an ideal signing but I will wager that he goes better than Ste Nash does at Cas. Also think Adamson could go well under some decent coaching.
Am actually looking forward to next season. Much prefer watching us when we are the underdogs and being written off, rather than under a cloud of unrealistic expectations.

| Getting this thread back on topic.
I would guess MP doesn't even know where he's going to play the new guys yet. Moon's been playing centre, his agent makes out his best position is 13, but MP has been quoted as saying what good 6 Moon is. Then we have McPherson, I'm sure MP would rather add his size to the backrow, but since we're struggling for quality in the front row, it would be fair to guess he'll play prop.
I'd go for:
Patten - great attacker, he needs to improve his defence
Broughton - fastest man in SL, needs to sort out his defence
Gleeson - when fit he was our best centre last season
Nero/Moon - as long as Gibson isn't allowed near the shirt again I'll be happy!
Williams - Can't believe we've got him, I'm amazed someone criticised him in this thread
Holdsworth - let him lead the attack & give the captaincy to someone else
Smith - I'm not his biggest fan, he works well with DJ
*
Godwin - one of our success stories, brings an urgency and enthusiasm the team really needs.
*
McPherson - really hope we use his size on the second row.
Wild - works hard
Anderson - need his in attack, one of our best attackers but worst defenders.
Ashurst
Sneyd
*
*
* the prop situation is MPs biggest headache

| Can I just take this opportunity to point out that Lee Jewitt made more meter's per carry than Ray Cashmere last season (second only to Feka in that department ), I'm not sure he's as useless as some make out. Also the amount of time last season when I heard people having a dig at him for giving away penalties was laughable when in fact out of our regular pack (Cashmere, Neal, Palea'aesina, Adamson, Anderson, Wild, Sidlow, Boyle & Nero) he gave away the fewest with only 8! I'm happy for him to be in the 17 every week.
I'dust to echo Karlos13's comments on this thread, I think he's got it spot on.

| I've been against jewitt in the past, but he is quick for a prop.
The only trouble is, he's not the stereotypical 6 foot 4 inch plus modern day prop.
On the flip side, he is powerful in both attack and defence.

Think the fact that Feka being our top metre maker per carry is a positive if he can get a bit fitter then he can do more carrys.
I rate lee Jewitt certainly grown up into a solid professional this season

Have you gone back 14/15 years, and mistaken Williams for Sini?

| That's going to upset a few on here sini getting some bad press
Sini wasn't prolific but he was all effort and heart that's why he was loved so much on the terrace
Williams is a different kind of winger, really if you were to compare him to somebody from that time Darren Rodgers would be your man...

| I wasn't actually comparing the two, but questioning how someone could criticise Williams. Whilst we're on the subject Williams is probably the first tough tackling winger we've had since Sini!
Williams does seem to link well with Gleeson, and they are one of our few plus points from last season. I really hope Moon can link with Broughton to a similar standard, if Moon plays in the centres.
Ps. As much as we all love Sini, it was for his heroic acts of strength and power. Not because he was the quickest winger to ever grace the Willows turf, rip. Sini was the only Salford player I saw run through Barrie McDermott.

| I have a feeling Moon will be playing in the forwards mainly, especially since we are a bit short there atm. I'd like to see him at centre but he likes to see himself as a stand-off. Proper utility player by the sounds of it which can't be a bad thing in a side like ours.

| I wouldn't be shocked to see Moon at thirteen either, but with patten performing a similar role in attack, to that of an old fashioned LF, it could well be a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians.
It's MPs choice, obviously, but Broughton meeds to be given a good centre inside him. Always thought he worked well with Talau. When Talau was fit and could be bothered
