I don't understand why anyone is bothered or surprised by this. It was a stupid mistake, and deserved to be punished.

The initial fine felt harsh, especially given the prescient set with Saints’ fine for the same rule break in previous seasons - halving it softens the blow. I imagine this was the logic behind the appeal.

The points deduction shouldn't bother us too much, our recent performances are far more concerning than our points tally. Given the way we started the season we're about where we should be - bottom of the ladder, grateful to have a team out on the pitch and amazed that we've picked up any points.

The attitude of some Cas fans is strange though. To the best of my knowledge they haven’t been awarded the two points (I could be wrong, though). If I was in their camp I'd be more worried about their inability to beat by a side made up of cast offs and loan signings hastily thrown together a few weeks before the season. Their nearest and dearest managed to do so convincigly this week...

This is my thoughts entirely too.

I'm not sure it's meaningless considering when anyone (including potential sponsors) look at the table Salford will now have a *deducted 2 points for... On it. And for the 2013 season it will be like that through history now.

You're still paying your money to watch a rugby team - you don't tell your loyal fans "ah bugger it, we can't be bothered this year, next year's where it's at!"

if that's the case they may as well let you all in at half price - if they aren't trying this year so why should you pay full

You seem to have real difficulty in differentiating between what fans opinions are and the actual Clubs. I've tried to explain but you seem a little special.

I don't often stick up for Salford but in this instance I have to agree that the two point deduction means nothing to the club this season other than whether or not the swap places with London.

The incident was an honest if not foolish mistake and that's all.

If as the fans are led to believe they are recruiting for a top four push next year then this will have paled into insignificance by then.

What I do think is that Koukash should see this as the RL flexing their muscles following a series of comments he has made and from that point of view the club would be better quietly going about it's business and when the achieve their goals then start sticking two fingers up at everyone else.

For now "line under the sand" springs to mind.

The Cas fans that are saying it was lenient for us not to get a deduction in the first place need to look at this as the standard for punishment for this offence. I would suggest that the club maybe appealed on the principle that the fine was a increase of 1000% on what Saints got.

what punishment did Jordan Tansey get for tackling Danny Williams around the head preventing him from scoring a try that would have made the Cas attack irrelevant at the end of the game as they would have been 2 scores behind.

If we are going to be rediculous about it shall we also deduct 2 points from Cas for every game they play on a pitch that is shorter than ours and turns up in one corner like a british rail sandwich....cos it gives them an unfair advantage!
We should also deduct 2 points from Wigan for fielding a player against us who tested positive and scored a try in the match that helped them beat us.
Why don't we deduct 2 points from Hull for the howler that Ganson made at magic weekend....and so on...and so on....and so on!!!!

Does anyone know the prize fund table in SL? I know the premier league one is published often. Only reason I ask it because would it of been worth our while just taking the extra 5K on the chin. If the monies earned from finishing 13 to 14 is greater than 5K? Strange one for me appealing.

No problems with the punishment so long as this is the benchmark for ALL future offences of this nature.
It's left me wondering if this is the RFL finally growing a pair and getting tough with clubs that break the rules in future.l
Looking forward to see how they deal with those clubs that promised new stadiums in their franchise bids and have nothing to show while other clubs like Salford and Saints took the warnings the RFL gave out about delivering new stadiums and delivered as per franchise bids.
