| I do worry if Parish didn't look at the club before signing is contract, was he that desperate for a job?
A quick search on the internet or a quick chat with the likes of John Cartwright whilst at the Origin game would have told him all he needed to know
Small club, not much money but loyal and passionate fans and a board who want the best for the club but not the financial clout to make it happen.
Still really hope he brings the club into the next level. I won't judge his coaching abilities until he has had the players in pre season, then I'll call for his head after game 3 if we haven't won. [size(only joking but expect some to do it)[/size

| People seem to be confusing the size of the job Parish was confronted with and the resources/support he was promised to help him complete this job. They are two seperate issues and people seem to be struggling to grasp that. He surely understood the state the club was in on the field and the problems we face off it but he is questioning whether he is getting the support he was promised to help sort these problems out.

A great point that I don't believe the club & staff do - they just say "Well we haven't got the money to do it another way" and so carry on as they always have rather than looking for solutions
For example, our Marketing and Merchandise are poor - especially compared to other similar-sized and even some smaller sporting clubs
And I think this is mainly what Matt Parish is getting at. Rather than look for solutions everyone at the club just says "We haven't got the money." and wants the conversation ended there.
I think he realises the budget for playing staff won't be great but he has to be backed to do what he thinks is best with what we do have, and I don't believe he is getting that backing from those that he should be.

The Chairman has stated on numerous occasions that he is very happy with Steve Simms in the position of Director of Football.
He also clearly has a lot of faith in Dave Tarry and has had him at the club for many years.
If you or I had put as much into the club as the Chairman then we could both have a big say in who we wanted in various positions.

And both of them have been unbridled successes!
The Chairman quite clearly appears to be asleep at the wheel of this club and he needs to wake up fast. Just because he knows everyones names and is a nice bloke doesn't make him a great chairman.

| The wage bill is an interesting one, we return to the question of who picks the players was it Simms or did McRae pick them?
'" ]
At a couple of Forever Reds meetings Shaun McRae was asked who picked the players for the club and he said it was him.It was Steve Simms job to sort out the signings etc.
Mcrae also said that he wanted Jeremy Smith as he would do things that would win us matches, need I say any more?

McRae was a bad coach no one is disputing that.
On the issue of no medicals whose door do you lay that at? Surely that is within Simms remit?

Who says that there haven't been any medicals carried out on potential signings?

I have to wonder how much Wilkinson knows about what's going on in various places, or how much he's checked over personally rather than relying on reports from Tarry/Simms. I can't imagine him letting Wilkinson Star get run in the same way as Salford to be honest.

"On the issue of no medicals whose door do you lay that at? Surely that is within Simms remit?"
How do you know? ... last time I checked, and I admit it was over 10 minutes ago, Simms was neither Bachelor of Medicine nor Bachelor of Surgery. So he depends (as do all posters) on the professional judgement of the doctors. So get of that case and moan about the actual doctors.
Lance Todd ... I remarked before you are RUINING an name I hold sacred. You should change your name. Please try another fine spotsman ... Colin Bell - but miss out Colin.
I wince when you post as you really are the statue pigeons love.

| It is about time we have a vocal coach that airs is views and good on him. We can't continue running the club the way we have for years or we will always be a poor outfit. He is right also when he says we need to start building for future as we don't have a supply of youngsters coming through like every other club. I admire a coach that says how he feels and agree with comments. For me steve simms must go but I can't see wilkinson doing this. Let's pray club listen or we will be looking for another coach
