Quote: Iain "I've heard a suggestion that Wrigley was advised to give Salford a wide berth by an NRL club official who used to work over here - they suggested that there may be better jobs coming up than the Salford one.'"

Quote: Iain "lancetodd wrote

Quote: Iain " May 10TH MEN.Salford Reds may have to look beyond Aussie Kurt Wrigley in their search for a new coach.
Reports from Australia claim Wrigley, the assistant coach of South Sidney, is not in any hurry to come to England and take charge of the Reds'"

Quote: Iain "Middleman wrote May 10th Huddersfield will be looking for a new Head Coach in 2012 and Wrigley was Nathan Browns assistant at St George. If he was to fancy a go in SL the Galpharm would be a more attractive destination?'"

Quote: Iain "
Quote: Iain "I personally don't believe anything till I see it announced but someone I know who is usually right with stuff related to our club reckons Gentle is favorite now and if we don't get him it will be Millward.'"

If that's true please let it be Gentle as Millward would be out of the frying pan into the fire.
'"

Wrigley , Wrigley's refusal is a non story really as he was cooling on the option two weeks ago , long before Simm's & Wilkinson mission to Oz. put this down to RL Paper talk

Simms , Simms is a well known blatherer known for his off the cuff quotes ( I'm still waiting for Anthony Minichiello & Craig Gower icon_rolleyes.gif

Quote: Ayres Rock "OK CBJames name one decision that that you can prove that Simms 100% has taken that has weakened Salford as a club given the way our club is with limited resources, limited revenue, and all the rest that comes with Salford and being a smaller club in the big league.'"

As the director of football the buck stops with him on football matters. if he didn't play a significant role in giving macrae a long contract and signing sick note players on long contracts then he is being paid for doing nothing. If he was instrumental in those decisions he is crap...HTH

No it doesn't help because as I said what evidence do you have that proves that he was the person who signed McRae on that contract. because I am pretty sure the directors and particular Wilky and Howard would have had the final say in that matter as is the case at the moment.

Again what evidence do you have to show he was the person who signed said players who were crocked? Iwould have thought that decision would of been down to the manager wanting them players. It is not Simms' job to tell the manager who he is and isn't having, more his job to make the deals happen.

I'll say it again, Wilky appears to have the upmost time for Simms and in his eyes as Simms' boss is more than happy with the job he does. If he was that bad for that long at hid job he would of been out a long timr ago, simple as. Like anyone else who is not capable of doing their job.

So at the moment all you can give us is what you believe in your head to be the case

Please don't try this ' in your head stuff'. You wroteI bet he became aware of us wanting to look at him, has spoke to Maguire who has said go if you want but i would like you to stay and he has made that decision then. Again, nothing Simms can do about that.

You are busy making up whole conversations to defend the inept Simms icon_rolleyes.gif icon_lol.gif

You clearly know nothing about a Director of Football role. It will include:

- Getting the best head coach possible
- working alongside the head coach to get the best posible assistants
- Putting in place high quaity conditioning and medical systems
- Working alongside the coach to recruit players
- Creating a strong youth development system

If you think Salford have made significant improvements in those areas under Simms you really are clueless.

Just because wilkinson has time for Simms does not mean he is doing a good job. JW has just got it wrong. I am not bagging JW here. At the giants ken Davy (a similar guy to JW in many ways) made the huge error of appointing Garry schofield as head coach and let him and veivers sign loads of crap players on 2/3 year contracts. It stuffed the Giants for at least 3 years.

You and JW appear to think Simms is doing a decent job. Looking at salford from outside it looks like a shambles. A great shame.

Davy may have got it wrong initially with Schofield but he's got in right now. I think its unfair though to make comparisions between Salford and Huddersfield because financially the Giants are in a different league with Ken Davy's wealth behind them.

Knowbody at Salford is exempt from responibility or criticism but in my opinion Salford's shortcomings has been more to do with lack of finances than individuals. It goes far and beyond what a club spends on players contracts, it's the extra money bigger clubs have to beef up the backroom support staff, the youth development system, state of the art training facilities, equipment and supplies. Salford have never been close yet to maximum salary cap let alone having extra money in the pot to further support and enhance team performance off the field like others. I guess you could say were like a formula 1 team with only 3 people to change the tyres during a pit stop, with most of the money going on the car!

To give you an example at Manchester United on Sunday the backroom support staff also paraded the pitch (before the trophy presentation) and there was almost as many of them as players. icon_eek.gif

My hope is that the club will attract new investors at Barton who could help take the club to another level.
