I'm affraid that two things need to be adressed at your new stadium. First the £5 car parking needs to be scrapped or make it £2. Second you need a second road that comes under the motorway straight past the sewage works into Eccles to cut out the motorway roundabout. This would make the journey much easier and ease the wait after the game. You can't charge £5 for parking only to be sat there for ages after the game and be parking on a mud field with shingle on it.
I park no where near the ground. It takes ten minutes to walk to the car and I am straight on the motorway but not everyone can or are prepared to walk so you have to get them closer to the stadium. The people who run these places really need to take a trip to the states and see how the paying customer gets treated.

Because you get them after work, still in work mode, wanting to end the week with a few sherbets. Sundays are for time with their families, not anything work-related.

This project was given funding in November through the Regional Growth Fund - subject to due diligence - so may be happening sooner rather than later.

Then all we need is Metrolink, but I won't be holding my breath.

Parking at NFL games is around $20 /£14 so you get what you pay for and to be fair getting away from the car parks is no easier than any other mass attended event. Saying that some stadia get certain roads blocked/restricted at the end of games so access onto the main roads is quicker/safer.
As pointed out access & egress from the car par is shocking and the costs involved to fix it could well be out of reach. Given some fans with families don't want to walk their kids 10/15/20 minutes to a game this may well be putting some off from coming at all no matter what time or day of the week it is.

Think more than anything what is needed are lights on the roundabout as currently you can be sat for an age waiting to get onto it from the Eccles side of the A57 due to the vehicles coming off the motorway.

Fridays are definately the problem with the low crowds. I work in Wigan until 5, if I didn't have an understanding boss who lets me work through my dinner hours 2days a week so i can finish an hour early on fridays I'd never be able to make the match. I have to pick my son up from nursery, drive home get my little boys tea ready bath him, get ready myself, then drive and pick up other family members who are going to the game, then drive down to the stadium allowing for traffic get there and get parked up and go into the stadium before kick off is a mad rush! If I didn't love Salford as much as I do I wouldn't waste my time going, like a lot of those fans who sit on the fence. The biggest attendence at the willows in the super league era was 10000 all home fans, what day was that game played on? It definately wasn't a friday night! The club have messed up big time opting for Fridays over Sunday, it just near enough impossible for family's to go and watch, another thing how many little children do we see at the coss? Not many at all as their all tucked up in bed before kick off! Rant over.

I think the location of the new ground lends itself more to Sundays than Fridays. Places such as Swinton, Clifton, Worsley, Walkden, LH are pretty much cut off from the new stadium public transport wise on a Friday night.

I think it's from either a pdf or powerpoint presentation available elsewhere online.

icon_lol.gif You should be on the stage you are hilarious!

Prior to Friday we had one good win against the newly promoted team that are struggling to find their feet in Superleague. It was the last match at the Willows against Catalan and the debacle against Leigh that will have switched certain people off.

It will take a few more good results like Friday to get those casuals interested enough to come and pay their money.

Feel free to criticise but the reality is not enough people in Salford want to pay money to watch rugby league. In the 1970's when we had a star studded team and won two championships we only averaged gates of about 5,000.

Personally I'm surprised Salford get anybody there at all considering all the damage certain 'so-called' fans do by continually 'getting off' by publicly knocking everything the club do or don't do.

Keep pressing that self destruct button whingers and you may then find that you have something much worse to whine about.

menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... rting-cast

M.E.N's running a story on our poor crowds they say the crowd was 4,629 whereas most other sport websites have reported it at 5,186, either way it's pretty shoddy.

£16k for stewarding is ridiculous for a stadium our size. Who's responsible for the crazy rules and regs that the club have to adhere to, the council?

Another poor article from the Evening News. The crowds likely to be lower next week so will be there be a similar article in seven days time.

It may be time for those supporters who do attend to make a gesture to generate some positive publicity.
Having been amazed at the persistent and possibly petulant postings on this forum and facebook,(which has 6,000 followers ?) the only thing which hasn't drawn criticism is the shade of green of the grass on the verdant new pitch and the selection and use of the players on the interchange - thankfully!

If we emulated the example of primary school children - who remain silent for so many minutes and donate money to charities which have television exposure - why not have 24 hours where no one finds fault with the club,on or off the field, and each supporter donates the equivalent of a match fee to the club - £24 if it can be afforded, for example people not going to France or Hull where the admission is even more.

The club can then use the money for whatever purpose it chooses - free entry to those who do not regularly attend or to help pay off the tax bill, anything they want.

£24 quid from a few hundred people will help and be even better from a thousand or two - and the non-criticism on here and facebook for 24 hours will be brilliant.(Those with memberships have received far more than £24 worth of goodies and savings, that's for sure.)

All the club needs to do is place a post box,or two, inside the main reception, club shop and encourage the start of the collection on Friday night. They do take cheques don't they, and cash ?

We need some positive reporting in the MEN so the sooner someone decides on positive action the better.
It may divert attention from whatever the attendance may be...
