Which comes down to the players on the pitch and the effort they're putting in, not the chairman.
It's not as easy as just going out and throwing money at players. The salary cap, the attractiveness of Salford RLFC against other clubs, the fact that John Wilkinson doesn't have an unlimited amount of money... There's many reasons why we've got what we've got.
It could all yet turn around if things start to go our way. That's the point of the franchise - we've got three years to sort it out. Yes, it's going to be hard, yes we need a big improvement in attitude from the shirts on the pitch and yes it's going to be painful to watch... But there is still time for it to improve, even if it doesn't feel like anything will at the moment.

Salary Cap.
Besides, if it wasn't for the money he has put in we probably wouldn't exist at anything above NL2 level now - it's not as if there are loads of money men queuing to take over is it?

| Smithy. Well said, I totally agree with you pal. At last someone who has seen the light.
I and lots of other people I know (who don't bother going anymore ) have always said for years " Why don't we break the bank and buy CLASS."
They can hype it up all they want in Advertiser/ Evening News. Quality players put bums on seats
My father once set up a meeting with a coach in the nineties. The coach told my father " I don't sign the players. I coach what I'm given"
I reckon it's still the same.

| We dont have the resources to buy world class players though, as has already been said, an we also dont have the pulling power like the likes of leeds, saints have to attract world class players. W e have to make the most of what we have got, and all the negativity on here at the minute doesn't help anything to be honest.

| The issue is not whether not we go out & get class players, it's getting the current squad to operate as a team.
The idea of "breaking the bank" to recruit class is, at present a non-starter - the salary cap rules see to that for us - like I said in another post, there are 8 teams in SuperLeague who can spend up to the full cap, £1.6m I believe that we are limited to about £400,000 less than that - so the reality is we are where we are.
Another thing to bear in mind in just throwing an awful lot of money at a very few players is what that does to the whole squad - Wigan are a perfect example - they bought their way out of trouble and ended up having over half of their wage bill being spend on well under half of the squad - how does that go down with everyone else in the organisation?

Salford City Reds are the National League Champions again and nobody will ever win a Grand Final more dramatically than this. Division One champions, Grand Final winners, winners of the Northern Rail Cup; everything their hearts desired. Down and out? Not a bit of it, they are never out. Memories are made of this forever and a day, Salford fans will ask "where did you watch the 2008 Grand Final? Where did you see John Wilshere save the day with the last kick of the ball?":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10288.jpg |

No it doesn't , and anyhow signing quality players would just give certain sections of the salford support a chance to abuse them. I give you gavin Clinch and Luke Dorn as an example.
And these people who you know who don't go anymore , not taxi drivers by any chance are they

| "ARNT YOU ENTITLED TO SAY WHAT YOU FEEL "
Right - to expand:
I blame ForeverReds who sponsor the junior ranks not the first team - what are you thinking off?
I blame the mid 70's team who led me to believe that Salford could win games - it's your fault I get bitter after matches.
I blame Wilky who should sell his home and firm to buy in Aussie imports and get us going.
I blame the coaching team - come on,why can't our players tackle 15 stone muscular giants? The fans can!
I blame the team who are obviously paid workers - not like us, they expect to be paid for their work!
I blame Salford Council who should close Care Homes, leave the roads ungritted, never replace sreet furniture - to buy us a stadium
I blame ...
For God's sake - we are learning about a higher level of SuperLeague than the one we failed in - no one expects more than a couple of victories MAXIMUM. No one expects us to cope with the speed and tactics employed against us untilwe have put a number of games under our belt. No one but a few posters and their followers in the shed.
Let's grow up. Wilky is the best thing Salford ever had, the team has genuine potential, McCrae has done more in Rugby League than most posters put together, the stadium will happen (the Willows is sorely past its sell-by-date) and the club is ran well (better than almost all other clubs).
I give up. No more posts - I'll read Virtual Terrace but not this board in future.
It does not represent the majority of fans - John from Salford perhaps.

3596.jpg this will not be the end, or even the beginning of the end.
It is merely the end of the beginning

You may not read this but just incase you do, you'll find a majority of supporters who dont post on here don't feel like you, take your rose tinted glasses off.

I would love to know where you came up with that one

32990_1435324474.jpg First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32990.jpg |

| I think the expectations from the fans this season were not too high. I feel the unrest and justifiable criticism after the last 3 games is down to the supporters witnessing a distinct lack of team spirit, effort and some truly awful defensive play.
Who knows maybe it's a blessing in disguise that these problems have come to light early in this 3-year franchise period, allowing the club to address immediately where they are going wrong and what they can do to improve and catch up?
I think of equal concern to the club right now is the risk of losing valuable support and revenue at a time when the club really needs it.

We can only spend a % of what we earn, salary cap springs to mind if you know any world class players that want to play for us on less money than the big clubs are offering , then please let the club know.
If sir john could spend the max salary then he would, but there is still no guarentee they will want to play for us, stop blaming wilkinson.
