| "It would be interesting to of seen where they would be now if anywhere if sale sharks had not moved in to edgely park and to see where they go now?"
County fans tell me that the financial input by Kennedy et al was in real terms neglible: they have lost many of their funding streams and have to pay for use of the ground (e.g. changing advertising boards at his rate). They are likely to be left with a heavily mortgaged ground and poor resources.
Dave Swanson will now post.

| The name of this thread should be changed. On Sale Sharks official website it states that you are both co tenants.
At the moment you are both a drop in the ocean in the manchester landscape, it's up to Salford to promote themselves, there's no point complaining about other clubs moving forward just because you want to stand still.
You're a good club that is improving on the pitch particularly in attacking plays and had increased attendance off the pitch.
Anyway the very fact that it's being referred to as Salford city stadium should be a boost in its own right for the reds.

| Quote: Derek Smalls "A very sad day, but unfortunately, one we all saw coming. If this isn't an admission that we are not capable of standing successfully on our own two feet, then I don't know what is.
We can all go on about how it could be worse, we could be Bradford, etc. But I have watched this club for nearly 30 years and put up with the rubbish on the field, because I always felt that at least we were a (relatively) well run club, unwilling to overstretch ourselves a la Widnes, Hull, Oldham, Wakefield, etc, etc. Now we are having to watch the local club from the sport that has done nothing but undermine the sport we are all so passionate about, march in, reaping the spoils from our clubs hard work, and not least, the sale of our century old home.
I am absolutely gutted that our club and supporters (financial and otherwise) have put so much effort into getting the stadium built, only to see it given over within 3 months of moving in.
And another thing, if their lot continue to call that kick and clap rubbish 'Rugby' when they are in our 'Rugby League' ground...'"
This really could be the kick up the backside Salford need. There is a conurbation around the Barton stadium that is bigger and more untapped than any other in the world of rugby league, bar London. Salford could be a very well supported and sound financial club if the right recruitment drive to gain fans. Moving to the new stadium should be the start of the attraction to the club.
I work at a school in Wythenshawe and, recently, I was chatting to one of the classes of kids about rugby league (them knowing I was a fan) and they asked me what club I support (Warrington) and asked what club was closest to us in Wythenshawe and when I said "Salford City Reds" almost all of them had never heard of the club. Just 7 miles down the road, within the same connurbation, and the club hasn't reached out to us.
Now Salford have a start on where they can attract fans and they shouldn't miss this opportunity!

What will all the business heads think when this happens? Which club will be the one in the driving seat as to who calls the shots with the SALFORD Community Stadium?
I am hoping this is going to be a massive wake up call for Salford now. We need to advertise advertise advertise as much as we can now to pick the attendences up.'"
Spot on!

WHAT???????? The horse has already bolted fella! Do they not have modern day facilities in Wythenshawe? Does sky television/the BBC/the M.E.N. and other media sources not infiltrate Wythenshawe? As they say you can't flog a dead donkey and as I've just mentioned to a mate of mine on here - Salford have tried everything to attract supporters apart from winning something in the last 30+ years. A new stadium may have helped increase support as the owners were relying on without a marketing explosion, have they now missed the boat? Probably?
Salford had a start on where they could attract new fans from well before moving to the new stadium, get my drift!

| Mr Tarry says 'Success at Salford City Stadium is now a more affordable proposition'. Does this mean our rent now drops to half, now that Sale are
co-tenants
One plus, as against a football team sharing, is that the stadium would be segregated and Salford fans would be treated like football fans by the stewards. At the moment I find the Stewards are very good and friendly
It just could work very well with Rugby all the year round, we might just win over some Sale Sharks sponsors and fans when they see a far more superior game

It's a sport which has had over 100 years to kill our game and failed, miserably.
Despite having all the media and press - 100k attendances at club games held at Wembley - Annual multi-international tournaments - a huge spend on school programmes etc.
Are we not - the sport of rugby league - in a League Of Our Own ?
Stockport County had huge problems before Kennedy got involved. It is a completely different scenario.
Why would those people involved in getting SCR this far throw it all away now, without getting all the necessary assurances in place to prevent anything going wrong ?

| I can smell the bullshlt breath within 50 yards of JAW. He.s known these happenings for some time. No wonder he crawls under his stone and never publically tells us fans any true dealings because Mr Salford is bent as a nine bob note. I hope to god he reads these boards. I'll be polite with this one.... Please Mr Salford for the goodness of this club GO AWAY you have done enough damage....

It's been explained to you many times that him going away means we cease to exist.
Don't you find this 'disgruntled internet moron' act a bit tiresome yourself yet?

| I hope there's some sort of anti-union/anti-sale thingy bob in line for the Hull KR game from the fans, it really has been a grim day I can't see anything positive to come out of it...we waited so long for this new stadium and then the enemy move in easy as that, it really is a joke. It's hard enough getting use to moving to a new stadium but now it's worse, it will never feel like home now...take me home Willows feckin' road.
