| Quote: Michigan red "Much like a season ticket on DD brings in revenue for the club think a monthly scheme would be ideal. You would obviously need to find an amount palatable to everyone and hope that this was enough to allow the fans a significant presence on the board.
I still though would need to know what we are buying into debt wise and if say we did take on a percentage of the shares would we then be liable for debts from the current regime. And also as I say I would need to know who was representing me and my investment.'"
Mich my old mucka nice to see you buying into my idea on how to save your beloved club. You may or may not have seen an earlier post where I'd raised over 400k using a membership model similar to what your advocating.
Personally I'd be vary sceptical about putting the money into the current company as with the greatest of respect it is a dead duck. Why else do you think no wholesale investment and new owners haven't been announced and before any of your comrades start, the reason for the councils latest loan is to protect monies they have already "invested".
Much better any funds that could be raised be channelled through your FR scheme, in waiting for a new debt free company.
In answer to your concern your purchase of shares in the current company wouldn't render you personally liable for any share of the existing debt, one of the benefits of limited liability.

| This thread shows the true spirit of Salford supporters ,and makes a refreshing change from inane ramblings (guilty as charged) so playing devils advocate for a moment.. Is it too late to put a supporters package together , a pot of money for "if" we survive this current predicament ?

It doesn't have to be done at the game. I just fed the cash to Karl as and when I could (and yes, before he starts, I know I still need to cough up for last year...)

Is it too late? Well "It's never too late to be who you might have been" - George Elliot (1819 - 1890)
Is it realistic to think that a supporters package could raise enough to meet the requirement - that's the real question!
Someone, somewhere has a cash flow forecast, showing projected income, outgoings, debt repayments etc etc - without seeing and understanding that I see little point in putting anything together.
That said, if and when the council sanction the loan and Peel match it and if we believe the statement from Ian Stewart that the move is towards a supporters trust, I'd certainly be willing to work with Forever Reds and provide what expertise I can.

There's always this to bear in mind as well:
www.communityshares.org.uk/
FC United have raised £1.5 million towards the building of a new ground through a Community Shares Scheme. Whether or not something similar could be done through Salford's fan base is another matter...

GT - an interesting approach, must be worth pursuing
Interesting bit from their feasibility factsheet
There are four key components to all successful community investment initiatives:
• A project team with the track record and competencies to lead the community investment process through to fruition
• Social objectives capable of winning the interest, enthusiasm, and financial support of a target community
• A viable business model capable of generating sufficient profit to pay a return on the community investment
• A capital finance plan that is affordable, balanced, realistic and achievable.
All of which I think have been sadly lacking over the last few years - in particular the "viable business model"!!!

| There is an article elsewhere today saying that Brian Noble fears if he doesn't find an opening in the sport within the next 12 months he'll not get another chance. To me he is rugby league through and through and someone the club/new investors could do worse than looking at for a position. He is not only held in the highest regard over here but also in Australia and could potentially help improve the clubs profile both here and abroad.
I don't know which position as PV is doing a fine job for now as head coach but maybe something along the lines of what SS does but making use of his greater knowledge and profile.

Subscription payments could also be setup with Paypal and rlGo Cardlessrl is a newer service to take online payments via direct debit for companies without a merchant account.

| I'd buy as many shares as poossible, which, admittedly isn't many on my wage but I'd give what I could. Obviously, like most on here it would be on the premise that the club structura and personnel was completely overhauled. I'd also be willing to offer my services free of charge to help out at the club for a few hours a week. I've got an administrative/managerial background and I reckon I could do more in 5/6 hours than some of the current staff manage in a full working week.
I know Forever Reds is the obvious platform to debate any potential share/fan ownership schemes but if anyone fancied setting up an informal discussion over a few pints I'd be up for it.

| Absolutely would, if they were on offer. Wouldn't see it as an investment, just a bit of a novelty to own a very small bit of the club. TBH though, all shares would generate is a one off cash injection, which would only be a temporary fix. What Salford needs is sustainable income, a shareholding trust putting money in through a DD would be a better idea, with a presence on the board to represent the trust/fans. Self sustainability is a problem across the whole sport though, how many clubs are reliant on wealthy owners
