According to the Red Vee site Gaskell was offered a miserly amount to re-sign for the Saints , and wants out , they needed a utility player pronto to cover for injuries .
Boyle - Emmitt
rlhttp://www.castigers.com/article.php?id
Both are homesick ?
Boyle lives in Cas , was spending 3 hrs a day travelling to Salford ( Leigh ) to train , he's still only 25 , and may rekindle some form playing for his local club , he's been put straight into the 19 as interchange Prop for their game against Huddersfield .
It's the Sky Game on Saturday so providing they've bought some safety Bulbs , we'll see him turn into a world beater.
Remember When Rob Parker went on loan to Cas , practically won them their next two games.
Emmitt didn't have the requisite number of fingers to settle in Cas and wants back to gods own county

| I don't like slagging players off, especially hard working ones like Ryan Boyle but I am more than happy with this. I do however appreciate all his efforts in a Salford shirt, he's an honest pro.
Seems like Hunte and Longy are clearing the dead wood they felt haven't been performing. More excellent work from the pair of them.

My best guess is that the new Head Coach has been appointed but not announced, and that he's behind these swap deals.
I can't see that Hunte or Long would have been given the authority to do these deals.
To be honest, they have the mark of Noble all over them.
He knows the Britsh game inside out and will know where the hidden gems are.

| Possibly, I'm still not convinced by the whole Noble thing either, seems more to it than that.
Koukash, Farish, Lowe and Chalmers must all have faith in both Hunte and Long after recent weeks and aslong as these deals aren't costing us anything (which they aren't) and are improving the squad (which they are) then I reckon they'd be given the green light to go ahead.

I don't think anything went wrong - Forward of the year 2011 and best tackler 2012 rlSourcerl
As both Lee Gaskell and Jake Emmitt have St Helens connections it would seem plausible to me that Andrew Dixon may have some input - he has been of such quality that he had the honour to captain the side on Monday.
As both Hunte and Long have both served Saints as players there is another link. They will still have friends at the club.

| Emmitt wanted back across the Pennines and he's mates with Dixon and Ashurst. It's a perfect fit for him and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do for us. As for Ryan, well he's always given his all and it was clear that he wasn't going to fit into the future at the Club. Good luck to him.

Emmitt when he left Cas today ..
Quote: SCR-SeaDiver "Started off his Castleford career well but I think that was more to do with the fact that we had an easy start to the season that saw us topping the league after round 9 (W7 D1 L1). Once the going got tough then Emmitt was found out to be average at best. I think Cas have got a good deal in getting Emmitt off the wage bill and taking a local lad back into the fold.
Always thought Ryan Boyle was OK to be honest, plenty of enthusiasm, Jake has been very disappointing this season, looked very jaded and slow in my opinion.....
Jake Emmitt has been poor for a few seasons, when we signed him we thought we had found a gem, but after he signed his contract he went to pot, he seems un willing to do the hard stuff in defence,.... Boyle was a decent player when he was at Cas, but his face didn't fit with Matterson, so he got shut
'"
Emitt when he re-signed for Cas last year ..
Quote: SCR-SeaDiver "Absolutely brilliant news - I'm so pleased I can't speak!
Jake is a star both on and off the field and is surely an England/Great Britain player of the future.
Well done Cas for retaining his services
"Saints must be kicking themselves letting him go, he's still 23 and not even in his prime yet. One of the best signings we've made in years"
'"

| Thanks for your efforts Ryan Boyle, to be honest I dont think it really worked out for you at Salford and best of luck. Gettin Emmitt in exchange for Boyle is a great deal for us and I for one am very happy with it. Think signing both Emmitt and Gaskell has been very shrewd business by whoever is making these decisions. On the Noble front, I would be happy to see him at Salford as I think he could bring a great deal of experience and knowledge to the table.

| Maybe the move for Boyle will work for him just like it did for Sidlow joining Bradford. I thought both players showed potential with us but I feel we never got to see their best for whatever reason. This could be a great deal for all parties considering the travel logistics problem unsettling both players. I wish him well.

We needed someone with some experience at hooker to fill in for Roby as he is out long term (something we haven't experienced previously) and so Howarth presumably met that need at some level. His distribution is actually pretty good although he is much slower than Robes. Still, he actually creates more opportunities out wide than Roby does so he has brought something new to our side even if we have had to forfeit speed and skill around the ruck area.
For whatever reason - and us fans can only speculate - Gaskell went from being the man Brown claimed to be of crucial importance to the side to someone he ignored. I hope Gaskell continues to play well for you.
Emmitt was a great workhorse for us at Saints and he was very good for Cas during his first season there. You have a decent player in him who will work hard in attack and defence.

| It's good to see the Doctor doing good business. Foran, Griffin, Gaskell and now Emmitt look good signings, and with Sneyd at full back, you look a pretty decent side of late

| I think both players will improve for their new clubs.
As for Rich Owen, he'll be staying put (for now) we have some chronic injuries mounting up, Webster, Dixon, Millington, all from the first 13, so I can't see us releasing Owen.
