| It's not technically a "foreigners" list any more though - it's a list of people who were schooled in Rugby League outside the UK. You can change citizenship, you can get various passports based on your family tree, but you can't change where you developed as a player. Jack Reed at Brisbane for example - born in England - but played all his RL overseas, so would be non-fed.
That said, this is RL and goalposts have a habit of moving - so we'll see.

| I'm guessing Jordan Davies won't count as 'non-Fed' trained, but I'm not really sure how these rules work.
Could he some way count as ' club trained'?
If he doesn't we are going to find it hard to get the number of 'non -fed' trained players down to the twelve that will be needed, if we are going to get eight 'club trained' in the top 25 on the salary cap.
Maybe this is where the rumours about wanting to unload Jewitt are coming from.

| I would of thought that Hodgson would be off the oversees quota after playing his first game for Huddersfield in 2009. I was under the impression that after five years a player didn't count on the quota .correct me if I am wrong.

| Your wrong. That rule went years ago. It's players who came over before 2008 who get exemptions now.

| Hodgson told Wire players on Saturday that he has signed for Salford. (Kit man was the `spy`)
Well we have 6 Non Fed already so are we perming? Not a signing I would have made with Mullaney coming too & probably not old enough for Nobby at 36 in 2014.

| Bit of a strange one for me seeing as we have signed Mullaney. A decent loose forward and winger would be where id be looking to strengthen unless Noble is planning playing Mullaney on the wing and gaining a years experience off Hodgson.

| So were just pretending the Fed trained & non fed trained quota doesn't exist then? Sincerely hope it's not true. I'm delighted were improving the squad but it'd be nice to have some british talent in the team. Hull KR are always getting ripped for their imports but I bet we'll be running at the most next season irrespective of 'dispensations' -
Meli
Puletua
Mullaney
Smith
Chase
McPherson
McGoldrick
Rapira
Sa'u
(Hodgson!?)
[sizeEdited to include Sa'u who I missed out. 9 overseas players already!![/size

| I thought the last rumour was that he was going to join Nathan Brown on the St Helens coaching team.
That rumour may have been after last Saturday.

No it's been sorted ...plenty of room for real quota players ...
Meli - Classed as Fed Trained .
Puletua - been at saints long enough to have a scouse accent- Fed Trained fella..
Mullaney - Sounds as Irish as Pat Richards
Smith - English with a Name like that must be .
Chase- he plays for England , And he's as English as Kevin Pietersen & Manu Tuilagi..
McPherson- Crusaders dispensation- I think the 3rd Crusade with Richard the lionheart.
McGoldrick - Club Trained - so old he first came over when we were still classed as Northern Union
Rapira -go on then he's quota

| Meli,Sau and Puletua are not classed as Overseas players because they are exempt under the Cotonou Agreement with the EU.
Slightly different note..Jordan Davies is classed as a New Talent pool player and each club is allowed 2 of those. For the purpose of the salary cap his wage is calculated as zero for the first full year and 50% for the second full year.

meli sau and puletua dont count on overseas quota due to cotonou agreement (kolpak).
meli and puletua have exemptions from non fed trained quota due to being here when quota was introduced. Sau does not and will count as non fed trained.

| If Sau holds a Samoan passport then he is also exempt under the revised Cotonou agreement.
Either way we have no worries with regards to our overseas quota.

Sau and Puletua are classed as Quota as they are both non fed trained, despite the Samoan Passport. Puletua arrived to play SL in 2009 so would count as Non Fed Trained
The quota no longer takes into account just Australian or NZ players, an example of this would be "Australian" Forward Anthony Lafrancchi, he holds and Italian Passport so would be classed a citizen of the EU but is included on our quota spots because he was trained under another federation other than European Super League/RFL.
Hope this clears the matter for you
