| It's unbelievable isn't it? The second worst club in the competition have only announced nearly a team worth of new signings. One that includes a half back pairing that most (all?) teams in the league would give their right arms for, playing behind a pack that includes Morley, Hock, Puletua, etc.
Throw in the shining lights from this season - Gleeson, Fages, Sneyd, Dixon, Griffin, the Walnes - and we have a very decent looking squad. As I don't follow the NRL closely I don't know how good the new imports are. But they sound plenty better than we have had in the past, and in Sa'u and Mullaney, mouth-watering prospects.
I'll trust the judgement of Nobby, too. I think he probably knows what he's talking about...

He has a contract with Wire for 2014 but he hasnt signed an extension unlike the other 11 wire players who recently did.So my guess is you will see Steff back at the club he loves in 2015

Tommy Lee, Greg Johnson etc i would presume would be squad members rather than integral parts of your squad. Rangi and Tim are class signings but the others dont really seem like massive signings of the calibre i was expecting from the Dr's comments in the past.
Obviously they are a massive improvement on what you have now but i was expecting maybe 3 or 4 big marquee names.
Sorry if i came across wrong and caused any offence.'"
Not taken .
Bearing in mind our thrown together side of Kids & Loanees under Alan Hunte beat your table topping side this season , the additions named today + any others that may ' limbo in under the Salary Cap ' before next season , we're pretty happy . 9 months ago we almost didn't have a club .

Someday, somewhere, today’s empires are tomorrow’s ashes.: |

| Quote: GIANT DAZ "so then apart from Chase and your squad players when is the Dr going to announce some 'BIG' signings or are those i've seen today it ?'"
It depends how you define a 'big signing'. If you think of a big signing as being an international, say, then if the entire Huddersfield first team squad were transferred elsewhere, how many would be considered 'big signings'? Brough probably, maybe Ferres, maybe Crabtree. Not too many others though. It would be the same with any other club, even Wigan.
Of the players Salford announced yesterday, two will likely be in the England squad for the World Cup this year, and probably in the 17. I doubt any other members of that squad will be moving to other British clubs any time soon. That sounds pretty 'big signing' to me.

I'm not trolling and I actually would love my club to be announcing a string of signings like these (instead of selling them) however I will reserve judgement on the half-back pairing you have signed. Individually both are fabulous players, my concern would be how they will gel together. Having watched Tim Smith for the last 2 seasons he plays much better when he has a steady influence alongside him (Sykes) which allows him to play his game. Chase might be a bit too maverick a partner for him. TBH I hope I'm wrong because if they can play together it will be a very exciting combination but I'll wait and see.

| name the last time we signed two possibly three current regular GB/ England internationals?
I think the last time we signed a current England-GB half back was 1975 with a ' world record ' domestic transfer fee of £15,000 for Featherstone's Steve Nash ?

Hock was basically kicked out of Wigan, Chase and Smith have been bought from two clubs who are too skint to hold onto them, while Hodgson's departure will be because we don't need him anymore, rather than him being seduced by any other offer.
However, if we decide that Ratchford is our player then there is very little you can do about it - that's what a contract is.

| I don't think Salford were gonna be changed into 'world beaters' overnight.
2 (obvious) Top signings, Tim Smith is quality also, Meli Morley etc.
One step at a time, Salford won't finish 'next to bottom of SL' next season, that's for sure. Top coach in Brian Noble, top 8 finish ???

Contracts go both ways though, so just because you don't need Hodgson, doesn't mean he has to go, why should he if he can't get an equal/better deal elsewhere? He's entered into that contract as much as Warrington so there is no reason why either party should not stick to the terms of it.
Contracts are only worth what somebody is prepared to pay to get the other party out of it, be it Salford (signing Ratchford) or Warrington (releasing Hodgson early)

I fully agree, though I think in RL, the players show a lot more loyalty to a contract than in football - At this point in time, I can't honestly see Ratchford being sold to Salford, however much money you were to offer. Its not like Wire need the cash and I don't think Ratchford would push for a move, however much he supposedly loves Salford.

| There's still a chance we could finish bottom so let's have a touch of realism, we're not gonna be signing superstars yet. What we have signed is a number of good solid players with SL experience. Also by signing players from teams in the lower half we have weakened them too. Should move us a few rungs up the ladder which has gotta be the first goal.

Hodgson has reportedly asked for an early release to play for a club closer to his home in Huddersfield.
As for Ratchford, he signed an extension to 2016. If he chose to return to Salford and handed in a transfer request then maybe Moran would consider it, but he definitely doesn't need the money.
