Perhaps we're not whining hard enough? I'm certainly guilty of that.
Do you think if all the fans united in a uber-whinge, a downer of epic proportions, a moan like the world has never seen/heard before it would turn things around?
TOGETHER OUR GRUMBLE IS STRONGER
LOVE MOANING

Lets not do anything and be happy with how things are going then should we? Lets face it there is a lot to grumble about fans have had to bite their top lip for years and years, now me along with many others are sick of it. If your happy then thats fair enough, but I'm certainly not!

| I think there is a little confusion going on here.
Everyone likes to look back at a game and show their knowledge in a discussion about what went wrong. Most posters on here want the mindless slagging off to cease. DJ may not be performing but calling him names isn't going to help, but saying he isn't taking on the line and commiting the defender is constructive.
At games my heart sinks when the songs about the ref start, yes we may feel that the 50/50 calls aren't going our way but how does it help abusing the ref?
I'd rather songs were sung supporting our lads than singing y warrington, it just sounds like us supporting them.
I've been around a long time and perhaps lbeing ucky enough to have seen the great side in 7helps. I know how frustrated fans get and I have only been to a couple of away games in the last couple of years as the product is so poor.

How are those two things related?
Do you regard incessant whining as 'doing something' about it?

We're in the top flight and we've got a new stadium rising from the ground.
Surely every one of the 2/3000 hardcore have seen us in worse positions than the current one?

Like I said, if your happy with just existing in the top flight then that's fair enough. I'm not, I want to see us compete for things, I'm sick to death of being the laughing stock (even Swinton fans are laughing at us). I for one hope the new stadium will make us more desirable to new fans and players and go someway to making us successful, but I've just got a feeling no matter where we play we're always be little old Salford playing in front of 3000 fans. We need to make some changes to the whole set up of the club and take some risks if we are to move on. At the moment stadium or no stadium we are stagnant and it doesn't look like it's about to change anytime soon.

| I'm hoping that Wilky will have come back from OZ and told the players we have a hungry new coach who expects all the current squad to play thier way into his end of season plans from Wakefield onwards. Think the players might suss that they have to shoulder some of the blame and start to put in a performce rather than seemingly going through the motions.

It's a hell of an accomplishement given what a 'little', poorly-supported, 'stagnant' 'laughing stock' we are. Don't you think?
The simple point I'm making is that existing in this league is a far greater acheivement than topping Swinton's table.

More familiarly pointless whining... What Salford fan doesn't want to see us compete and win?

Your deflated pessimism is your own business. I can see the club are trying, if you can't/won't that's up to you.
Quote: Ave It! "We need to make some changes to the whole set up of the club and take some risks if we are to move on.'"
That's a pretty vague solution chief. And again, if you can't see that changes to the setup of the club are already afoot, it can only be because you don't want to.

I won't make the same point a third time.

We've been 'trying' for the last 20+ years. Still doesn't seem to stop us making a balls up of things on a regular basis. Hopefully things will change next year with the new stadium on the horizon.

And why are we so poorly supported? Because the fans are fed up of the dross being turned in season after season and the false promises the club give year after year.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "More familiarly pointless whining... What Salford fan doesn't want to see us compete and win?'"
I'm sure every Salford wants to see us win, but to me it just seems that far too many are happy at not competing and are contempt to go another 20 - 30 years winning nothing and just existing.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "Your deflated pessimism is your own business. I can see the club are trying, if you can't/won't that's up to you.'"
Thats what watching Salford all your life does to you. I'm now seriously fed up at a time when it should be great to be Salford fan I'm at my lowest ever point.

Hopefully a new coach will sort the playing side of things out in the near future and the Stadium will offer us some long term stability, but the club is still run very amateurish compared to other super league clubs I mean when you don't get a response to e-mails, or when you ask a question and the staff all look at each as if to say "well do you know, because I don't". Maybe its not everyone and I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but the experiences I've had with club haven't been great and haven't improved much this season either.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "I won't make the same point a third time.'"
I love the club, go to every game, offer my support and always will, but at this moment in time as I've already said I dread going.

| Fact is we invested heavily in the of season and were told how good we would become and whilst i never believed that for a second as we have to many medico players i also never thought we would have preformed so badly in some of the games. We have lost TEN games out of 15, and scored 0 in two games at home. I'm sorry but anyone who finds that acceptable in our last season at the willows and with the money spent in the of season needs to take there rose tinted specs of. Not to mention what a joke the Alker saga is.
I go into work/gym and people will say to me "Did Salford loose again at weekend" not "How did Salford get on did they win?" which tells a story in itself it shouldn't be like that. After years and years of failure people are now starting to ask the question will we ever change, and chose not to go to the games.
I am right behind the new coach and hope he can really get the best out of the players when he comes over because this is a season we are ALL meant to be enjoying and we find ourselves on here bickering away at each other.
The new stadium is out only hope and i really hope people take an interest and get themselves down there and can only pray that the team don't let them down again. One things for sure know one can question the passion of the Salford fans weather we don't agree or not we all want the best for the club we love.

I also find that people with only the slightest passing interest in RL at work ( may watch it on sky every now and again) Suddenly now seem to know every Salford result ready for when your next in after finding out your a Salford supporter. "lost again eh? Bloody hell you got nilled at weekend didn't you?" etc.. etc..
Now if we had a competitive team who were winning a greater number of games or at least competing those same people would still be more aware of Salford any maybe would be more interested to actually go to watch a game live. The seed of interest is already there. Even if it is a negative one.
I really think if we were playing better I would have a good chance of getting 2-3 of those to actually go to a game ( especially at the new stadium). Now if everyone at work has 2- 3 people like that we could swell the ranks easily. And hopefully the moaners ranks will be watered down some what.
I have to say though that going to the game wouldn't be the same without listening to some of the comedy ranting that goes on in the shed. It's one of the high lights in many a dull crappy game to be honest.

| The thing is, some people do have genuine concerns about the way things are at the club right now, not just on the pitch but off it as well. You can't just lump those people in with those who shout abuse and moan for no reason every week and you can't just dismiss their claims and brush it under the carpet.
I can understand why people get annoyed with the way some of our support can't see any positives at all, but I can't understand why genuine concerns get dismissed by people who, for some reason, don't want to allow any criticism of the club at all, regardless of how constructive it may be. The 'scarlet tinted spectacles' end of the spectrum is no better than the 'everything at this club is utter sh*t' end of the spectrum.
