There are two going in the corners of the smaller stands. Then I guess there'll be spotlights running along the roof of the large stand.
Quote: Fatboys Limb "And how will people get back to Salford after 11pm?'"
If you're not driving, good question. It depends on where you live in Salford.
Quote: Fatboys Limb "Where is the nearest real Ale pub ?'"
No idea. Wetherspoons?
Quote: Fatboys Limb "Oh and how far is it from the Willows?'"
At least 3.7 miles depending on what route you take.

| Public transport might become a bit of an issue here I think, especially after Friday games at 10pm-ish. There's only the 67 and 100, which at that sort of time, won't be very frequent at all. Although around a 10 min walk to Peel Green means you could get the 10.

Huge issue. Currently the 10 only runs from Eccles Interchange at that time.

| There will be a bridge over the canal which will allow you to walk to the Trafford centre and you can get a bus / taxi from there.
I suspect the club / stadium will provide buses to and the ground we will wait and see.
I'm sure first bus will sort a direct route to the stadium from eccles they would be mad not too...

Hardly any bus options from The Trafford Centre to many parts of Salford at that time. The outcome of this transport survey should highlight that.

| It'd be really awkward for many away fans too. Always see quite a few getting the tram from Weaste after the match - getting the 67 from Barton would take 40 mins I guess just to get to Shudehill, add onto that the time to get to Piccadilly, and there's potentially a few missed last trains there.

I'm not sure what the time frame is for that part of the infrastructure project. I'd be surprised if the bridge over the ship canal is ready for next season.

| Re. the question about real ale pub(s) - the nearest is the Grapes. Its on the A57 (439 Liverpool Road, Peel Green, M30 7HD). It's listed in CAMRA's current Good Beer Guide, and I suspect has been for many a year.
Unspoilt interior, four or five rooms, on the 10 & 67 bus routes. I'd reckon if you're walking to/from here, then allow a good 5 min. walk to the new stadium, certainly 10 mins max. Holts ales, by the way!
The Unicorn is nearer, but I'd be absolutely amazed if that place had any real ale. If you want a decent variety, (and some ballast), then Wetherspoons (at Eccles bus interchange / tram terminus / Morrisons), is your best bet. It's called the Eccles Cross. There's also the bonus of another Holts pub - the Lamb - being only 40 yards away. These again are both GBG entries.

| Are the club not putting on buses from different parts of Salford to the new stadium? Thought I'd read about that somewhere in the past?

From crudely sketching a path on google earth, when the new bridge is in place, the Chill Factor (Wetherspoons) will be about 0.8 miles, and the Trafford Centre Bus Station will be 1.3 miles.

I'd say it's more like 20 / 25 minutes walking time mate judging by the walking directions on Google Maps.
I've said it before but it looks to me that Eccles is the best bet and then a bus to the stadium.

That was spoke of as part of the more grandiose stadium plans.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |
