| Sky sports news are reporting that Salford are to appeal the six point deduction. If they fail would an extra game be added, I think I remember a precedent being set in the past.

Oh poop.
It is worth the risk appealing? Unless he is just appealing the severity of the 6 points?
He is obviously incapable of keeping his rants to himself.

| We surely have nothing to lose by appealing. Even reducing the deduction to 4 points would make a huge difference. An even if it were increased due to the appeal were already joint bottom so no worse off.

| Dependant on what is being appealed against.Tricky one, as more deductions in points could be placed on next season. Is it worth it?

| I'm all for the club appealing this as it was an 'unfair hearing'. A bit far out but, I also think the cap is outdated and potentially a restriction on a players ability to play/trade and a the size of a clubs squad?? Maybe nonsense but just a thought.

| Six points deduction. I feel like we've got off quite softly. hardly a deterrent is it, breaking the Salary Cap Regulations. We're lucky, now let's move on and aim for eighth place. Forget the appeal, draw a line under it and move on.

| Couple of points on this , how can a punishment be so retrospective ? Surely this "live " cap was meant to be monitored on a month by month basis , so why wasn't that done , who is going to be held responsible for that ? Football can learn a lot from our game , but can you really see this happenning in football banning someone two years after the event ?

| Impossible to monitor a live cap when the club agreed backhanded deals, which were totally separate to the cap. The cap was monitored and we passed as you would expect. The fact we were paying these payments only came to the RFL's attention during Tony Puletuas employment tribunal.

| Baffling that people are still arguing the toss on this one. Caught red-handed, got off lightly all told, chalk this season off, start afresh next year...

| The six points could be the difference between the top 8 and the play offs but unlike previous years it will not spell automatic relegation. I doubt you will have anything to fear from playing in the middle 8's because all the super league clubs in the bottom 4 last season have improved markedly including my own Wakefield.
I guess the appeal is a no lose because if they decrease the points you benefit and if they increase them you are actually no worse off. They may increase the fine but that too is not too onerous an amount for your chairman.

...or any addition could be applied in the middle eights comp, should they not now escape the bottom 4. The RFL went ahead and changed the league structures without thinking about if all its bye laws / rules were now fit for purpose. The other one they missed was the signing deadline.

Shame you couldn't beat Wakey then you'd have been 4 wins better than them

Not sure why the eye roll, it's an opinion. You beat us because you played better on the day. You are on good form. I think over the course of a season we are a few wins better. That OK?

I think 4 points would have been more appropriate, but perhaps your Chairman's tweets might have not helped the cause.
2001 - Wakefield Trinity - Salary Cap Breach - 2 points
2003 - Halifax - Salary Cap Breach - 2 points
2003 - Hull - Salary Cap Breach - 2 points
2003 - St Helens - Salary Cap Breach - 2 points
2006 - Bradford - Salary Cap Breach - 2 points
2006 - Wigan - Salary Cap Breach - 2 points
2007 - Bradford - Salary Cap Breach - 2 points
2007 - Wigan - Salary Cap Breach - 4 points
2011 - Wakefield Trinity - Administration - 4 points
2011 - Crusaders - Administration - 4 points
2012 - Bradford - Administration - 6 points
2013 - Salford - Fielding Extra Man - 2 points
2014 - Bradford - Administration - 6 points'"
I think that shows how points deductions have been increasing over time.

| The potential sanctions have increased but in the interest of things like fairness & consistency apart from fielding an extra man for 6 tackles the last 4 on the list above are for going into administration (often as a result small businesses don't get paid) and before that Wigan & Bradford were in breach not once but twice.
