I demand that you retract your statement now and start moaning about being lied to, not getting a franchise in 2012, never having a ground built, blah, blah, blah ... icon_rolleyes.gif

Quote: H0LTY "front page of the advertiser doesnt air a very positive view where salford are concerned,

i can see the uproar coming off the back of it now! salford council borrow 10m taxpayers money to help the build?

can you imagine the general publics opinion on the matter? i beleive it will be built but wasnt the funding supposedly in place a while back? and peel are planning to apply for a sizeable grant from the nwda to pay for the majority of their part of the build?, if that fails what are they going to do, pull out, or pay up?

i know there is the old, 'stadium got to be built before the port' and i appreciate it, i can understand the reasons behind applying for a grant but for some reason it also tells me the feel they have spent enough money on the cause?'"

Know what you are saying matey, but, do you not think maybe the council , who incidentally GAVE the land to Salford rugby club, want to have a say with Peel in the matter of our stadium, which also has someone in our corner as far as Peel are concerned.

Also, I would like to say, I think Neal Kealing is doing his journalistic job of "s##t stirring" in the press, has he wrote anything positive about SRLC lately!!!! NO, he hasn't.

Well according to that fount of all RL news, Dave Hadfield in The Independent, Salford City Council will definitely NOT be funding anything to do with the stadiumhttp://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/rugby-league/council-will-not-bail-out-salfords-new-stadium-1842929.htmlrl
Who knows? Not me!

That article says that the council have pledged £10m, but nothing extra.

The last time Neal Kealing had a scoop it contained ice cream and by the time he started to lick it. it had melted.

Dave Hadfield is Neil Barker in disguise.

First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32990.jpg

The advertiser have written the article with the sole intention of stiring public emotions amongst the less intelligent residents within our City. It's not like the council are giving away 10M of tax payers money, it's obvious they are loaning the money to help the club but will recoup the money plus interest from Peel in the long-term when the site is fully developed.

It's a similar situation with the NWDA money which is a loan to Peel and not some big freebie like several people assume.

The NWDA money may well be the £3 million that was earmarked for the project some time ago.

As regards to Salford council GIVING the money towards the stadium, not true, it is being done by means of "prudential borrowing, which happens in all councils. It is a LOAN, that WILL be paid back to the council from the land income in time.
