Gentle, Dunneman and Wrigley are my preferences with Lam closely behind. I still think we'll end up with Millward though!'"
All very capable guys. there is a risk but little doubt in my mind any of these guys will take salford forward.

| Darren brown the former player could be a good choice for coach as well but on here every ones name as been mentioned can you really see ricky stuert would come to salford we aint attractive enough for that kind of appointment. where did we here that ricky stuert was a contender in a comic book. why dont we just name every coach one at a time we cant get it wrong then

Maybe no coach will be appointed until the 2011 Franchise has been sorted.

Darren coaches his son's team as far as I know. We probably need someone with a little more 'top draw' experience. Why not throw Chris Tauro into the equation too - I liked him!

Joking aside if it is an overseas coach the club are considering then I think you'll find there is criteria for obtaining a work permit in the UK. I think there has to be a certain length of service at NRL level with the necessary coaching qualifications.

Apparantly neither has heard of Skype, anyway bizarre decisions and Salford go hand in hand.

We have players with plenty of skill, but if Ricky Stuart could instil some that aggressive defence into the Reds, then we might just go somewhere next season. Cashmere, Jewitt, Sidlow, Wild, Anderson and probably Nero all have the physical attributes to put in good defensive sets. I've, also, seen Neal put in some decent shots.'"
Hmm An Aus Coach who can't control his behaviour and a 34 yr old, it would certainly be a statement ..

Come on Skype you can't be serious, this is a massive appointment in a new important era for the club. If it's an overseas coach they want then surely they have to go and meet all the applicants in person. Video conferencing is unnaturally phony and wouldn't necessarily allow them to pick up on everything such as all the body language signals etc. Futhermore it's essential the club goes out there and asks as many people's opinions (From NRL) of the candidates as possible. Also what kind of message would it give the applicants if the interviews were done on Skype? If it was me I'd be questioning if they were really that bothered about the new coaching position or their club.
I seem to recall Ian Lenagan the Wigan Chairman going to Australia and unearthing Michael McGuire and I don't think any Wiganers would be critical of his recruitment methods.
Can you just imagine the critisism the club would get if they appointed a new coach from a Skype interview and it didn't work out? Every man and his dog would be saying the club should have got their ar$es on a plane to Aussie.

| John Kear would be perfect for Salford, he is the best for getting the most out of average players. We musn't have grand designs, we are a poor/average team and have a lot of players on long contracts. Yes the new stadium will help us but Its not going to propel us into the elite. Another big factor to take into consideration would be the fact that we will probably only have 1 or 2 available quota spaces next, so what is the point in bringing in an aussie coach who has limited knowledge of the players over here? It doesn't make any sense! Kear gets my vote, followed by Millward!

The ideal situation for me would be an up and coming coach from the NRL with knowledge of all the latest fitness, technical and tactical methods etc and Kear as performance manager for his motivational and man management qualities.

So you don't think, signing one of the bigeest names in the world of RL would be a statement of intent?
Check you, for hard to please. The point is we have a terrible defence and this guy bases a large amount of his coaching on aggressive defence. Additionally, two of the biggest names in RL would, definitely, get the people talking about Salford Reds.

| We don't want someone who was a good player unless he's a proven top quality coach; we certainly don't want someone because we like him; we don't want Kear because I don't like him!Not really sure why, just gut feel.
Seriously,I would prefer Noble to Kear.
