| It's ok I'll nip over to Costco and buy a load of beer then sell it out of my boot. It'll be the best car boot sale ever seen in salford

| I read a couple of months back that the 3-year construction of Port Salford was due to start in August. With this in mind does anyone know when the new roads linking the site to the M60 is due to start and finish?

[iI found this public document about the new roads on the Councils website. [/i
Highway improvements to Junction 11 of the M60 and elsewhere between Junctions 11 and 12, comprising widening to four lanes northbound.
A new link road (WGIS) providing access from Liverpool Road (A57) to Trafford Way and Junction 10 on the M60, via a new road and a new low level bridge crossing the MSC, to the east of the existing motorway crossing at Barton Bridge, incorporating bus, pedestrian and cycle access and possible future Metrolink route.
A link road running parallel with the M60 and a two-way link between the A57 west of Peel Green, Trafford Way and junction 10 of the M60 and closure of the existing off-slip at Junction 11 northbound. This is to be provided in two separate phases.
A planning application has also been submitted to Trafford MBC for parts of the WGIS works to the south of the Manchester Ship Canal which falls within their jurisdiction. Trafford approved that application on 18th February 2009.

That place looks absolutely huge!
Wonder if it could maybe have a detrimental effect on the local area, in terms of traffic, although I've heard much of it is going to be rail-based.

| Drove over Barton bridge last week and couldn't believe how far ahead this project is. Let's hope Salford's stadium move will generate the kind of results for the club that Warrington's has.

If it is rail based would there any passenger facilities as that would make getting to the ground much easier for a lot more fans both Salford and from down the Cheshire corridor.

| I've just noticed the multi storey building in the drawing (Located at the entrance to the stadium off the A57). I wonder if this could be offices for the Port or a new hotel perhaps? I'd have thought that building was too high for the flight path with it being so close to the airport?
Something it doesn't show in the drawing is the 12 lanes of rail track sidings, parallel to the ship canal at the back of the stadium.

think I will be having a trial run soon down on the train from Stalyvegas to Patricroft to suss out likely watering holes (and then do another trip by Metrolink from town to assess the possibility of Eccles as a pre-match destination !)

| Saints have signed up Robinsons to supply the beer to the bars in the new stadium, with a special deal for televised matches bringing more money in, something we could try with a local brewer, ie Holts or even Robinsons for the new stadium, because it is clear from the Saints deal rugby league clubs are not tied into the Tetley deal.

Robinsons would be amazing. We can watch as unassuming away fans buy pints of Old Tom.

Are you mad boy??? I'd rather then put a tap on the bottom of the lav and serve that than either of them, now a dream would be Sam Smiths as it's golden and cheap plus it isn't the biggest seller round these parts so they might fancy it for expansion?

Really? Can't stand the stuff personally I don't think it travels outside of Stockport particularly well. Now Holts would be a dream (alas not for lager drinkers mind) it only has to travel a few miles!
