| I'm surprise this rumour has took so long to get going. With Bradford imploding and the general comments in the press about the state of the games finances, I would have thought this rumour would have popped up on several club message boards ages ago.

| Hardly.
New sponsor for next season is a club record, recruitment is looking good and the only "debt" Cas have is an interest free loan from the owner.
The only thing I can think of is the other week there were rumours of people coming in and making up a new BoD but that all went quiet.'" ]
So all that in the papers with McGoldrick loaning the club money and taking reduced pay was pie in the sky then?

| The situation at Salford is nowhere near as bad as Bradford. After all, come next season they will simply be playing as Sale City Reds.

IIRC it was deferred wages several years ago when we'd been in NL1. No bearing whatsoever on our current financial situation....which is not so good though.

| The situation at Salford is not good at all. The club will be lucky to crawl across the line until the end of the season without hitting administration. God only knows what will happen next season. Wigan have really helped Salford by taking Matty Smith in order to clear the debt owed to Daniel Holdsworth. They gave Salford over the odds more as a favour to Salford to get them out of the you know what. Normally, Salford would have perhaps taken a couple of fringe players at Wigan in return, but they couldn’t afford to pay them. Back to Holdsworth, he really wants out for next season. He is targeting a return to Australia and has made certain people over there aware of this fact. The club is in a mess. It has been poorly managed for years as we all know, and it is catching up fast. Those running it day to day, from the top, over the last few years have to take responsibility now. Nobody wants to invest in or buy the club. It’s not as bad as what is happening at Bradford, but it’s pretty bad all the same. This isn’t something that Forever Reds will be able to sort out either. It’s too much for a quick fan bailout, and they don’t have the clout. This needs a serious investor and fast.

Erm . . Nowt to do with losing Thomas Leuluai then and having no cover? Paid over the odds to help out Salford? Do me a favour.
Quote: DogPie " Salford would have perhaps taken a couple of fringe players at Wigan in return, but they couldn’t afford to pay them.'" What's the point of bringing in fringe players from Wigan now with so few games left? Now that would be bad management, especially if money is tight.

What does that entail? the directors throwing more money down the toilet at a rugby team in a city that so few have been really ar*ed about in the past 40 years?
Quote: DogPie "Nobody wants to invest in or buy the club'" And thats all the boards faults again is it? OK surprise, surprise how predictable. It's so easy to whinge but try being open minded and taking your fan or player hat off and see the bigger picture for once. Life doesn't always give you what you want, get over it.

| Bradford given until 27th July to sort out buyer, as long as the RFL pay £200,000 wages this Friday, which they might not do after they stated on Friday that Bradford had 3 ways of raising the money to pay the wages, gate money from Sunday's game, which only added £20,000 to the bank account, await Sky mony in two weeks time, that is after this Friday, or sell players.
So it looks like another £200k will be thrown at Bradford, do you think teh RFL will pay Salford's wages next month?

I guessed,as I was admiring our first half line speed on Sunday, that I would read bad news this week.
Fortunately,it hasn't been in the rugby league press.
I shall disregard your comments about Bradford ( who appear to me to have 'traded while insolvent' etc.) and also the possibility of a player making plans in advance, perhaps,as his contract expires in just over a years time, but as you purport to know about the financial situation, hopefully you can assist in enlightening my ignorance.
If a potential investor missed the interview on Radio Manchester, and the few lines in the press, how do they know about the opportunity to invest/purchase Salford City Reds ?
Who,if anyone is the target or where is the target area ?
As there is money in banking ,has Mr McManus at St Helens,a merchant banker I believe, been asked if he knows of any likely individual(s) ?
Has Mr McNeil,a Hedge Fund marketing guy,at London Skolars been asked a similar question ?
How has the club been marketed to any potential purchaser ? Have the RFL been asked to assist ?
How and where has the request for investment/purchase been advertised ?

| `The situation at Salford is not good at all. The club will be lucky to crawl across the line until the end of the season without hitting administration. God only knows what will happen next season.`
Well for a man in such a privileged position as yourself I find the criticism metered out beyond belief. When did you last pay for a seat at Salford instead of sitting cosily in the Press Box?
`Wigan have really helped Salford by taking Matty Smith in order to clear the debt owed to Daniel Holdsworth. They gave Salford over the odds more as a favour to Salford to get them out of the you know what. Normally, Salford would have perhaps taken a couple of fringe players at Wigan in return, but they couldn’t afford to pay them. `
Staggered that a man in your well paid employment does not understand business in this day & age. Matty was off to Wigan at the end of the season in any event yet Salford with good business acumen have obtained a good transfer fee which they would never have received in two months time.
`Back to Holdsworth, he really wants out for next season. He is targeting a return to Australia and has made certain people over there aware of this fact. `
If you had spoken to the man instead of asking other people not close to him then you may have found out the truth.
`The club is in a mess.`
Every club bar 3 in the whole of RL are in a similar position. The game as a whole is in a Financial mess so why isolate Salford?
`It has been poorly managed for years as we all know, and it is catching up fast. Those running it day to day, from the top, over the last few years have to take responsibility now. `
How do you know that? Have you looked at the Accounts? Have you seen the monies put in by the long suffering Board to enable you to even write about our club?
`Nobody wants to invest in or buy the club. `
How do you know that? Do you know the deal the Board may offer YOU to take over and run this great club? May I suggest that before you write such drivel that you think what you want to say in future.
`It’s not as bad as what is happening at Bradford, but it’s pretty bad all the same.
This isn’t something that Forever Reds will be able to sort out either. It’s too much for a quick fan bailout, and they don’t have the clout. This needs a serious investor and fast`
Forever Reds could be the way forward as it happens long term however any serious investor would only look at Companies making PROFITS and with substantial assets. Salford doesnt fit that criteria BUT it has an income stream & a decent team which would be VERY attractive to an outside business partner starting from scratch. He/She would look at the overall situation and make his/her own plans which could be acceptable to the current Board who I am sure would stand aside providing solid guarantees are given to them in lieu.
So Mr B - don`t come on here pontificating and berating people who have been providing your living for the last 10 years. Why you have come on here to do that is beyond belief.

| OK, the way I see it, there is clearly SOMETHING going on at the club - and I dont just mean the usual...'we aint got much in the pot' that we've had over the last few years.
There is too much smoke goign around for there to be no fire with this. What Dog Pie says is very worrying. Is Dog Pie someone in the know?
Some people on facebook site have asked club to comment and they said 'we dont comment on rumours'. Which to some extent I understand. However, the rumours are KILLING the club and causing unrest amongst fans and breeding negativity.
Surely it would be better to say, ok we have heard all rumours, this is the truth and just set the record straight. That way, even if its bad, it may galvanise the fans into helping the situation and the people of salford may rally round to save the club.
Cant be doing with all these rumours any more!!!!!! doing my head in!
