If the chairman wants a "Marquee player"he is entitled to request one just as other chairman have their say on other points that they feel require looking into both at the present and in the past as Lindsay,Snape,Whelan,Hetherington etc,etc did when it suited them.

The way that the chairman has changed the clubs outlook and aspirations has been fantastic plus the fact that as part of his huge financial expenditure we now have gym/training facilities that are equal to any,he has personally visited more fans in different locations in the local area than all the other chairman have jointly.

At present it has been deferred,but knowing Superleague,its chairmen and unusual ways that they operate I am sure that quite soon they will bring in a Marquee Player scheme.

If Salford were getting 10000+ crowds perhaps the Marquee player wouldn't be as high on his agenda as it is.

With your suggestion about Salford fans getting real after going through the last two/three years I think that we could give advice to most fans about the realism of one week seeing our club about to go out of business only for the good doctor to save us.I am enjoying our time under Marwan Koucash as are all the other fans of the club,we need more fans,we will draw in more fans and all the away fans who attend our matches will still be queuing up for a photo shoot with the good doctor.

No Club - not even the Headingley lot,could wholly finance the Salary Cap from Gate receipts ( Attendance alone ) , you would require an season average attendance of 15,200 with a supporter yield of £12 per head.- even with sponsor & other Commercial activities most clubs rely on the good will of a benefactor.
Argument from the detractors is clubs should be happy with the additional 300K TV cash , players wages aren't allowed to go up & everyone needs to knit a superstar player rather than buy one off the peg . Also clubs will go bust & rich clubs will have an unfair advantage.
the Proposal was for 1 player - existing or aquired to only count 100K towards the cap & to Keep our best players or bring in a overseas player without decimating your available cap .
i'm not evangelical about either stance but at present when we have reduced our league by 2 clubs,crowds are delpeting dispite P&R and we are hemorrhaging the perceived best players in the comp. to another league and/ or sport to procrastinate until 2016 'to see how things go ' seems far more reckless than any Marquee player scheme.
meanwhile clubs will still go to the wall & richer clubs will continue to have an unfair advantage cherry picking the best available local talent from lower teams ..or catchment areas.

I personally don't have problem with the other chairmen voting against the proposal the point is that it was deferred until later and according to Dr Koucash some people, not for the first time, said one thing and did something else.
And I am certain that sooner rather than later the Marquee player proposal will be passed in one form or another.
