Our defence is a concern. 44 at HKR, 42 at Hull and 32 at Wakey who let's face it didn't have to play brilliant rugby to amass their total. We struggle to prevent teams from scoring once they are in our 20 and that is a worry.

Has the Sheens affect, petered out.Or did it never materialise in the first place.
Why don't we just accept we are only a bottom four side with this squad of players. Also I don't think Watson is the answer,as a the coach.

Fair comments Red Eyes. Its obvious to see that on the pitch we're no better under IW & TS than under Iestyn Harris. There maybe wholesale protocol changes within the setup but can we honestly say the product is any better i honestly can't see any improvement regardless of the club trumpeting that the squad is a close nit group, it surely doesn't look like they are to me. I've witnessed snippets of comradery this season when things are going well however true comradery is tested when things aren't going well when the comradery switches to resilience mode which is an obvious absentee. I've said from day one IW is not the answer to our Club, I believe he should be involved within the setup at some capacity but for me his appointment was far to premature. Sheens has got a lot on his plate so an experienced coach should of been appointed, however only time will tell to see whether Sheens's decision to appoint IW is fruitful or not, but under current performances looks all to familiar like Dejapoo to me.

Sad to say I agree about Watson, for me we should bite the bullet and go for one of the high quality Ozzie coaches currently without a job, Geoff Toovey or Ivan Cleary spring to mind.

John Cartwright would be my choice however he's No2 under Trent Barrett at Manly at the minute which would hinder a move to here. Its crazy to believe how being a No2 in the NRL is a more tastier catch than being a No1 over here.

Everything is superior over there, the lifestyle, players and probably money.
I think Dobson was your best player, however you are a much better team with Lui in your side. I think your number 22 (Sarsfield?) needs to be a little bit cautious of hitting the back of players knee saw one or two and thankfully no injury. I think both teams were physically tired from a busy easter thus the poor quality of game. Wish you best of luck for rest of season, apart from when we play you at yours.

The very worrying signs what makes me cringe is Wakefield didn't have to play well to score 32 points it was a walk in the park. Blaming fatigue is a poor excuse which seems to be condoned as we were woeful against Catalans and there was no fatigue factor in that encounter.. Its as though the three fixtures in this period are excusable if we lose a couple of matches due to the fatigue factor which is a sad state of affairs when you'd consider Catalans at home Huddersfield and Wakefield away would of been marked on the fixture list at the start of the season as must win games You can't blame it solely on fatigue when desire is observably found wanting.

Lethargic and laboured. Poor start set the tone for the rest of the match and general sloppiness didn't help. Heavy pitch turned it into a position and possession match witch Wakey played better than us. Fatigue and desire go hand-in-hand, and while both teams suffered the same on that score, Wakey had the better attitude. It's not the end of the world, like some seem to suggest, just got to hope that the wrongs are addressed this week and a better performance shown next week.

We should definitely give more time to Watson, he's passionate and seems to be working well with Tim Sheens. The drop in form has been due to the loss of key players such as Robert Lui and Tommy Lee. Yes we lost to a virtually full strength Wakefield team but we played them at the wrong time just coming off two wins after the appointment of a new coach. Don't forget we had injuries to 6/7 key players and there is no doubt we will give them a battering at the AJ Bell.

Considering we are spending well below the cap I think we are doing ok, the aim at the start of the season was to only do better than we did last season where we only won 8 games. We've already won half of that amount and only need another 4 wins in 13 games to achieve that goal.

Looking to the next 1/2 years where we will spending full cap and will probably see the inclusion of a marquee player the future looks very bright indeed. Another positive is the strength in the backroom we have now and also the amount of time that is being put into our academy which has previously been neglected.

Keep supporting the lads, a loss at an in-form Wakefield with half a squad isn't the end of the world. A win against the champions next week and things will look a whole lot different we just need to keep believing in ourselves. This young and hungry squad is capable of a lot go forward. Keep the faith!

A friend, who now normally does not watch Rugby League but made an exception for this game, caught me on my way into work with some very pertinent criticisms of our plays: usually the direction of a run by a player. When tired, it's easy to lose concentration and not see where the opposition is off balance. Wakefield TW seemed to do better in this than we did.

Before we hang the coach or bemoan the results, let's look at the games: with the exception of Hull (away) (which I missed) and Cats (home) we have either delivered or come close to delivering with a young and new side. This team is one for the future: some players are showing they want to be part of that future and (inevitably) some are failing or need more input from the coaching team. So losing a game that depended on emotional maturity on a heavy pitch against a very confident home side is disappointing but not the end of the season. We have yet to see some of the players not picked as yet.

I think that lack of direction would be due to the loss of one of our most experienced players in Tommy Lee who directs our play going forward. Logan has shown some glimpses of becoming a better player in the last few weeks but is a country mile off Tommy Lee's skill set.

When you look at Tim Sheens's career he has a solid reputation of turning under performing teams in the title winning/challenging sides and having someone at the club who has experience of doing this on several occasions can only give our players confidence. As they spoke about in pre-season interviews this is a 3 year plan and there is no doubt this young side will become one that challenges at the top within the next couple of seasons. We even pushed champion sides such as Wigan and Warrington close this year and demolished Saints at home.

When we are spending full cap next year and have a lot more strength and depth, who knows if we are lucky with injuries would could potentially make a push for the top 4/5 spots in Super League, we are more than capable of doing this.

Sorry, I disagree. Salford, are clearly showing and indicating all the signs and hallmarks of a team playing in a mode of desperation. As highlighted wrongly FATIGUE and DESIRE, doesn't go hand in hand. In the Catalan game fatigue wasn't a factor and our performance truly lacked desire amongst other key factors within that encounter.

Wigan and Warrington played Two derby fixtures within the same time frame as us to which fatigue played a huge role in their encounters. did you see the hand in hand fatigue and desire deficiency in their encounter, i surely saw a sustained desired effort from boh teams in that game, Yeah blame the injuries we've picked up but Hull KR had a plethora of injured personnel who out-enthused us in every department in that particular fixture, so your hand in hand analogy simply doesn't stand up. Condoning excuses don't cut it for me, the glaring common denominator that sticks out in my mind is that if the players are getting out enthused week in week out is that their peers are obviously not getting the best out of them for one reason or another. Can you honestly say that ever since the Castleford game that the players have give their utmost best, i beg to differ. the Club trumpeting a close nit group is what we have this year looks like a grossly over exaggerated statement too. Wheres the resilience.

I can accepted bad games from us like the Catalan game but that on Saturday was just awful to watch. The first half n hour we dropped the ball or we gave a penalty's away. As much as i rate Sau and Josh Griffin going forward, they cant defend at all. I was looking forward to the Leeds game thinking this is the best chance to beat them at home but after watching that i dont think we will now.

I agree totally with your post, I believe we will continue to be inconsistent throughout the season due to the depth of our squad. When & if we get a full starting 13 on the pitch I believe we can compete with any team, losing Tommy Lee, Robert Lui, coupled with the loss of Craig Kopczak, Greg Johnson & still to play Weller Hauraki & Daniel Vidot without mentioning the savagery inflicted on of MCB last week it was not too surprising we did not quite have the quality to finish off Wakefield.

I believe We are not in a position to be a top 8 team, I expect us to once again to compete in the bottom 4 play offs at the end of the season, however this does not mean we are not making progress because we are.
I cannot believe Ian Watson & Tim Sheens are coming under pressure already, they both delivered in the eights last season & have played an existing brand of rugby when the right players were on the pitch.
Finally I understand supporters frustrations at both the Catalans & Wakefield results but have you forgot we should have had at least a point at Wigan & should have beaten Warrington on the day.

No issue with Ian Watson at all, done a good job thus far cheaper budget than either Noble or Harris had to work with.

We should have beaten Wakefield on Saturday too. How many opportunities did the players want/need? Difference between the two was Wakefield were clinical with their breaks/chances whereas we squandered them.
