| Finding it amazing that over on the Hull board not a single fan has given credit to Salford. We're described as garbage and nothing special, which is fair enough if that's what they think. Even though they're a team we've beaten twice over three games, twice on the trot. Even though we played far from our best in the second half and still scored twenty-two points.
Are they stuck in the 'Lowly Salford' mentality of yesteryear? Or are they stuck in the decent Hull of yesteryear? Or both?
It's interesting to note how different sets of fans behave post-match. Stark contrast to the many Hudds fans who said we were far better and congratulated us last week. Most of the Salford contributors on here that I've seen commenting on other boards have been honest and the same.
Nothing as queer as folk eh?
I'm pretty happy with my mediocre side at the moment anyway.

| I'll start with the negatives, two sloppy errors (one from Evalds and one from Chase) which gifted Hull 2 tries and 12 points which made it much more of a contest than it ever should have been.
Positives; defence was outstanding for 60 minutes, lapse in concentration perhaps cost us in the final 20. Far too many good individual performances to pick one, but I agree with all previous posters. Our attack was far better than it has been, we were making breaks and actually had players with speed Evalds, MCB and Griffin backing up.
Massive credit to the team and Iestyn Harris who has turned us into a very competitive team, something I didn't think we would see this season.
I'm also loving the reputation were getting for being a physical team, some of the tackles last night were eye watering.

| Agree with Butcher, Hull fans calling us rubbish on their board is a laugh. We have the same number of points as them, we knocked them out of the cup and I would think we will finish higher than them in the league table. Saying they had a better team than us, on paper, is laughable also, as other than Houghton I would not want any of their other players. Still they have been serial underachievers for years so I guess they know all about poor teams.

| Disappointed that we let them back in it in the second half and the score flattered them in the end. Defensive effort in the 1st half was brilliant, other than the early chance where Lineham was put in touch, they never really looked threatening. That hit from Hansen on Talanoa (I think) was absolutely brutal, most people celebrated it like a try!
Hull were pretty poor, Houghton the only player who really looked dangerous, but part of that was definitely down to our defence. Really starting to see the improvements that Harris has brought in and over time the defensive effort should hopefully be more consistent throughout a game and hopefully we'll see a return of the sort of defence Harrison had us playing back when we last made the playoffs.
Other random thoughts: Puletua had a brilliant game. Great play from Evalds to set up Johnson's try. Impressed by Tommy Lee last night, looked a lot more lively around the play the ball than usual.
Any word on Locke yet? Some rumours on Twitter that he could be out for 5 weeks but Harris' post-match comments make it seem like he was 50-50 on playing last night.

| Very pleased with the result yesterday and most of the performance. Especially pleased about the attitude and the way they played and acted like a team and like a group who look after each other and celebrate the good things each other do. That is a massive change from a couple of months ago. My guess is that Harris putting through the pain of intense training has made them bond far better than Noble ever would have done. The increased physicality is evidence of that. V little dirty stuff but everyone trying their hardest on every tackle. Some of the hits from Sau and Hansen were incredible and hurt me just watching them . The way they celebrated Josh Griffin tackling Lineham (I think) into touch was like they'd scored a try and was great to see.
The first half was just about as good a performance as I've seen from salford in a long time. They made too many mistakes (Johnson knocking on from kick off) but they backed each other and didn't let Hull score from the position we gave them.
The intensity definitively dropped in the second half and especially the 20 minutes when Sau, Hock and Morley were all off the pitch. You could see the difference when they cam back on, especially Morley who I thought was immense yesterday. And we also played at least 10 mins without a prop on the pitch. Can't remember if TP was on but we essentially had 5 back rowers and Lee for a good spell so it's no wonder we struggled to clear our line for that spell and that they made more yards with the ball. That Hull side shouldn't have scored 22 points against us. It was noticeable that the only time Yeamn got free was when Sau was off. So I think Harros had his summary right that we still have things to work on. But we're def heading in the right direction. Next week will be a big test and if we can get a win we will be in good heart going into the Wigan and Leeds games. And we'll have Tasi back for them.
Think my favourite bit was when Yeaman squared up to Sau trying to intimidate him. Next time we got the ball we deliberately had Sau run at Yeaman and the Hull man was knocked flying, didn't see him again til Sau went off. That's proper rugby league

| The Gary Player Quote "Well, the harder I practice, the luckier I get." spring to mind about last nights performance .
In many ways it was reminiscent of earlier home games this season :-
knock on from the kick off
cheap penalties given away
loose carries & dropped ball when we were under no pressure
poor kicking game on the whole ( spooned midfield kicks into the waiting arms of Jamie Shaul , the best kick meter returner in SL).
so if the Dull fans are ranting on about about how poor we were there is an element of truth .
the Difference in the result despite our poor basics is the injection of pace & a confidence in the side from the recent games. IMO we played better at Castleford & lost .
We barely got out of out own half for the 1st 15 minutes then Chase pulled a try out of nothing, earlier in the season that would have gone to ground .
When we did get possession in the Hull 20 , we made sure we came away with points even a drop goal - Penalty kick , earlier in the season despite our efforts we usually spoiled our opportunities & went away empty handed .
The Ball bounced in our favour - the Danny Houghton break that Evalds picked up, the the loose ball that Caton Brown capitalised on for the final try .
As I stated with the Gary Player quote - the team is working harder for each other , things are gelling and that harder tackling & and injection of pace is making us a luckier side , may it continue .

| Quote: Bonita Red "Unless I'm missing it,nobody has picked out several unsung heroes.
TP is at the top of his game and Tommy Lee is playing tremendously well for the full 80 minutes and keeping Tomkins out ( unless he's carrying an injury ).
Theo is now looking very comfortable in the team, rather than a kid struggling to make the next step up.
Full marks to Harris.
I also agree with Michigan Red that MCB could turn out to be the stellar signing.'"
I'm going to mention another name, and it's going to upset some upsettable people. I think Steve Rapira played well too, as he has been doing in recent weeks. He runs hard, tackles hard and seems to really hurt his opponents. He might be becoming an integral part of Iestyn's bully boy pack.

| Radfords take questioned the borderline legality of what they do last week.
“But you have to tip your hat, they are very good at what they do and sit a lot of ball players on their backsides just as they are about to play the ball. That is clever rugby and if they can get away with it they are going to continue to do it.”
The try just before half time he recognised where Jamie Shaul was in the line, and threaded the ball through to score in the corner. You pay for what you get and he is top drawer.”

This is going to be the new "thing" - Salford are overly physical. Radford has clearly picked up on Anderson's unjustified comments from the previous week and has ran with it.
I honestly saw nothing this week or last that suggested our new found physicality is "borderline illegal".

| There was no illegality in our physicality. I recall one head high shot for each team. We were just very, very solid and strong in defence for 60 minutes. I’m disappointed we let that level of intensity drop, but it’s something to work on.

Yeah that's all I could remember and also the bizarre moment when Heremaia decided to kick off with Johnson. Couldn't see what happened at the time but it's on the highlights video. Just goes for him after the penalty was given to us, then Johnson gets his headgear ripped off him and Heremaia tries to throw it into the crowd.
Overall we generally tackled hard but fair.

Throwing headgear into the crowd is or was a sending off offence, not sin bin

He got neither as far as I'm aware? The sinbinning was a separate incident for holding down after a break wasn't it?

Salary cap - you're havin a laugh.: |

| Great to see us back up the Huddersfield game with another decent performance. A shame we let them back into it but it was all about getting the 2 points.
Good to see Chase controlling the game as well with a disciplined performance. Long may it continue.
