| If we sign dobson then Smith and Chase aren't both going to be here next season IMHO.
The non fed quota does still apply to us and we're going to need to let people go.
Locke, chase, smith, dobson, sau, tasi, McPherson, puletua, rapira, mullaney... There need to be concessions somewhere.
That's not counting our supposed ongoing interest in green & we'll probably be looking at strengthening our front row.
Some of those players are going to have to make way and I can't see us keeping three overseas halfbacks.
All hypothetical at this point anyway.

I don't think Rangi has the size or pace to play in the centre. He's being targeted in the line by the opposition now, play him centre and he'd be an ever bigger target.

In an extreme case - and only if the circumstances demanded it - would you ever consider putting a centre in the centres?
Anyhoo, it might be a mute point (which means we can't talk about it), because word on the street (YetAnotherRumour Street, that is) is that Darrell Goulding will be joining for 2015. Treble his current salary is the going rate for players from Wigan.

Can we really afford that many pies if he is going to be on three times the salary
Yeah I would but until we sign another one I'd rather try Hock in the centres than Gleeson. My thinking with Chase is that he is quite pacy and as we all know he can unlock a defense with one moment of magic. That said I'd love to sign Goulding as is still quality and wouldn't cost the earth (apart from the pies obviously).

| What is the obsession with playing everyone out of position?
Lets build a team with specialists played in the correct position.

Do you honestly think Chase is a good half. IMO he is too much of a maverick. Fans remember the good things he does but if you watch him carefully he causes far more moves to break down than creates opportunities. He struggles to play a structured game as it simply doesn't suit him. I think he would make a very effective #9
1 Locke
6 Sneyd
7 Dobson
9 Chase
That would be a hell of a good spine.

| He might not be the ideal half back but will playing him out of position improve the team?
Like many half backs he doesn't have the defensive capabilities to play at hooker not sure he has the work ethic either.
If he ain't good enough get rid and get someone who is.

My argument is I think #6 is not his best position. Many players move positions over the course of their careers. Lockyer was a bloody good #1 but matured into a better #6 for example.

| Lockyer is a different class of player. Just because you think isn't a great 6 won't make him a great 9 either.

What about Theo? You are getting that greedy for HB's you are forgetting the good ones you already have.

I'm working on the logic that if we got shut of Chase we might get fewer Cas bellends on this board. it's a small price to pay.

| He did win the Man of Steel playing half back
Your problem been, You can't give him a structure, as thats not the player he is. You have to trust in his ability and have the right players on the end of it to finish it off.

| Seems to me that Harris is all about structure,it's the modern way.
The bottom line is that MK has dug a bit of a hole for himself, despite his very best intentions.
Nobles team was designed to be coached by Noble, and I would have backed him to be in a better state than we currently are.
Does MK now back a coach in the transfer market when, ultimately,he may not produce the goods.
Then another coach's transfer targets ?
My guess is he wishes he'd stayed with Noble until the end of the season, maybe with Harris as number 2.
In his present predicament, his only real option is to back Harris's judgment on new players as long as there aren't too many that are unique to his playing style,ie those that wouldn't work with a replacement coach's style.
By the way, what happened to the Walnes to inject some youth into the pack?

Chase started off as a 9 at The Dragons. It was Nathan Brown who changed him to half back.
[iAfter a year with the Tigers, he was signed by the Dragons and this season has impressed in premier league at hooker. While he has hardly played five-eighth, Dragons coach Nathan Brown has decided Chase is the best man for the playmaking position against the reigning premiers.
"Here I am, about to play against the best No.6 in the world," Chase says. "I feel lucky where I am - just to come out and make something of my life, that's what made me who I am today.[/i
