| I'd be really disappointed if we lose Smith but I'd like to see the French kid at Wakefield if he does go.

| Obvious question do we need Smith?
He's without doubt a good player but I think Fages and Chase would be an amazing pairing who would create a bucket full of tries. I'd hate to see Theo's development stalled because I'm sure we have a future star on our hands.

| Next season is clearly about maximum impact.
Player development may need to have a one season break and resume in 2015

Of course we need a player of Tim Smiths quality, he absalutely ruined us this year at the SCS, I've said this about theo before, in my view he wouldn't of played anywhere near the amount of games had we not of been in fanancial trouble and didn't had to get rid of Holdsworth and Matty Smith, he should only really be getting drip fed into the team next year not having to carry a team on his shoulders at this early stage of his development. So yes, yes we really do need Tim Smith for next year.

I agree with you to a degree.
The trouble now is after being thrust into the hot seat this year and doing a pretty good job under the circumstances. How does it make him feel to just drop back down the pecking order after basically being one of our stand out players this season? In an ideal world he would have been drip fed into the first team, but he's been thrown in at the deep end and performed above expectations. When you've already proved you can do it with a sub-standard side around you it must be difficult to be told you're going to be second fiddle in a much better side.
Of course, he may be perfectly happy, and he seems to be a level-headed lad who sees that his age is an advantage. He'll be our number one choice at some point in the next few years. Hopefully, he'll be patient enough.

Can I ask what makes you so sure ? You've just signed one of our star players that signed a 2 year extension a couple of months back, so what makes you so certain that we haven't asked for a very in experienced, un proven player in return ? If you wanted Smith it was on our clubs terms, not yours.
Not saying we have but I certainly wouldn't be so quick to write it off.

| Oh course, Tim Smith might just be option 2, if there is a problem with the visa for Chase. Just a thought.

Nothing is impossible.
It's highly unlikely though. Theo has signed a five year deal stating he doesn't want to leave. Billybradshawsmum is probably in a better position to tell you many reasons why he is settled at Salford, after all, he moved from France and lived and was looked after by her and her Family.
He could move from Salford, but I suspect it would be very very unlikely at the moment.

Yeah and smith had 2 years left with us. He has also stated that he is happy at Wakefield and has settled with the family, which is quite a big thing considering the mental illness that he copes with in Bi-Polar which was the reason he quit playing rugby league over in Aus in the first place.
Then again like you say nothing's impossible. Isn't your so called signing in chase on a 4 or 5 year deal ?

Correction :- It was on your `Creditors` terms. You seem to be in the same position as we were when we had to sell Smith & Holdsworth to pay creditors who were demanding payment. I just hope you lads see it through the winter with no income coming in through the gates.
