| I am more than happy to see Morley in a Salford shirt.Wouldnt be at all surprised that if he does indeed come to Salford then it will be more a player/ coach role he will be taking.
The guy has a huge amount of experience that you just cannot let pass you by.We currently have a fantastic crop of young talented forwards. Can you imagine the benefits to their game that learning from such an experienced player will give to them.Any game time we get out of him is just an added bonus. If we are indeed trying to build a club with long term objectives then he is an ideal signing for us at this stage of our redevelopment.

| All this talk of Morley in a player/coach role, is there any evidence of his coaching ability?

| I don't see any reason not to sign older players who are still fit, especially forwards. If they're still healthy why not?
Like everything else, a blend of youth and age is the best combination to a team that succeeds. Every team has older players why should we be the exception as some of our fans seem to want? If that was the case we should maybe play the Academy side as the first team and see where it gets us.
I think Morley could go two ways. If he stays injury free then he'll be a huge asset. If he continues to pick up niggles he'll be a spectator. But to be fair, that could apply to anyone during a season.
What we need is big, experienced and talented forwards for next year. I don't really care how old they are as long as they do the business.

It’s one of those general misconceptions that people assume a quality player will make a good coach because of their experience and ability when playing.
If Morley is coming let’s pray we get a Steve Menzies and not a Phil Bailey. Basic salary and a 'pay as you play' deal may be a wise move.

| My concern with Morley is he will be on a significant wage, the reason a few people mention the dual playing and coaching is that would then allow some freedom on his wages in regards to the salary cap. Have often thought if we did sign him that getting him involved in the media and marketing side of the club would be a good idea.

| Mozza would be a brilliant signing ,both as a player and to promote the Club.
It's a leap of faith whether he can add to the coaching input, but you'd think so.
Forget the argument about us signing old players, coming to a retirement home.
That would be a valid argument in many cases but there has to be an exception to every rule, and signing him,at this stage of our development would be that exception.

| Sorry but I'm struggling to follow the logic here?
Why/how would Morley be a positive for marketing/promoting the club?
Signing a player approaching the end of his career isn't a particularly forward looking philosophy, unless he brings something specific that you are looking for.
Lord knows we've signed enough players over the years who's last club has been Salford!

| My concern is Mozza is 36 now and his body has will have endured some heavy collisions and punishment over 20 seasons. In the past two to three years he has suffered numerous injuries that have kept him sidelined for weeks on end.
For a club like Salford looking to strengthen and progress can we afford the risk of signing a player who is more likely to be sat in the stands than taking the field? As some people have said above he could certainly be good to have around the place and would undoubtedly make a good PR/media figurehead if his pay demands were reasonable.
I would love to see Morley at Salford as long as the deal was the right one for the club without risk of paying a big contract over a couple of years without it being appearance related.

| Sorry but I'd much rather go for a quality prop a bit younger before the strain has taken it's toll. I'd have loved to have been in this position where we can genuinely look at decent player earlier and tried to get Craig Kopczak as think he is Nobles ideal style forward also think if we'd have kept hold of Sidlow Noble would have got the best out of him.

Excellent post,JFTW.
Bringing a winning culture into the dressing room.Did you see the celebration involving all of those Warrington players,on Saturday night, when he scored a try near the end,in a game already won ? That shows the esteem in which he is held. Quote: JobsForTheWives "Sorry but I'm struggling to follow the logic here?

To answer your earlier post BF. the inchoate coaching career of Adrian Morley is mentioned at the end of rlThis Linkrl
It seems it is not just in the bible where a prophet is not recognised in his own country.
Those who know the clubs transfer dealings do you also know where the club stands on the restructuring or does it wish to remain with the Licensing system now the stadium has been obtained with all of its inherent problems ?

| If you think about it the three most successful coaches at Salford over the past 30 years have all been British despite us having half a dozen overseas coaches.
Ashcroft (Major cup final), Gregory & Harrison (Playoffs, Highest league finishes).
