Don't know where I'd find the money but in principle, I'd support an idea like this.'"
Red Preacher most of what I post on here is devilment.
The proposal I have suggested is made in a real effort to stop the demise of a famous old club and rival.
Yet i now note the post seems to have been removed, however I genuinley feel it is a way forward for the Reds.
Plenty of people are talking about Peel loaning money I have even seen a suggestion that sky monies should be lent to the club, for goodness sake the last thing your club needs is more loans.
It needs a teams of genuine heartfelt supporters to form a plan to move the clubs ownership to a debt free vehicle and start again...it can be done with determination.
Yes I'm a Swinton fan first and foremost and I will always look to cheer loudly if we play you and beat you but to see your club go under no thanks.

| Its simples... lets just do what London Broncos did back in 2005
The Broncos were heading for financial disaster - believed to be around £3million in debt - before the other 11 Super League clubs voted to save them at an emergency meeting. London will be allowed to go into voluntary liquidation and form a separate debt-free company, with their entire playing squad being transferred to the new club.

I think a Lions Fan would find it hard not to have a wry smile about our situation. It's taken us about 10 years but we've arrived where Malcolm White Left Swinton , Sold up and demolished our main asset , moved the fans away from the heartland of it's support, now in a Stadium we don't own with a rent we're hard pressed to afford.
I agree with the comment on ' loans ' . , As mentioned now frequently on the local radio & press we owe 1.5m to the Council already + the debt historically owed to our current directors + the odd Australian & HMRC, nobody here would think of asking your local council loanshark or Wonga , to sub us some cash til next pay day .
seems a far cry from Boxing day & Easter Derbys with the Station Rd mob .
for all the drip fed promises of ' new investment ' there is no Santa Claus , there isn't a pool of Gtr Manchester Millionaires into RL otherwise Swinton & Salford would be the Inter & AC Milan of SL so, they aren't it's going to be a hard slog.

I wouldn't disagree with you about the wry smile, but as you rightly point out we have been through this and still are to a degree and trust me it hurts like hell.
One of the differances between Salfords situation and Swintons is that at least your support base can still do something about it, if you all get together. In Swintons case we playued our last game at Station Rd against Salford on the Sunday and then on the monday was told the ground had been sold and the club put into Administartion. We had no chance of doing anything to save the club back then.
Your fan base must average 3-4 thousand that is an awful lot of voices and also a lot of potential backers if it is streamed correctly.

Nope. The monies advanced to the bulls were 2012 sky monies which were paid early plus a small amount of our 2013 allocation (<100k IIRC). 650k of the bradford 2013 sky monies is being witheld, along with another 600k in 2014, for reason which havent been explained by RFL but its presumed as a fine for going into admin. Our chairman has stated that the 650k withheld for next year has already been distributed to the other SL clubs so presumably 50k each (salford included).

| Working at ITV I have took advantage of my position by speaking to the newsdesk this morning. They are working on a piece about the current situation and I have managed to arrange an interview with Shirley Bradshaw which will be on Granada Tonight. There are a number of questions which I hope will be asked... with the ultimate aim of getting the club to open up to us and explain exactly what is going on and what the club actually need in order to operate. I could have been interviewed myself, but it was felt by myself and the Granada team that it would be better if the chairperson of the fans association spoke in an official capacity. I know Shirley is also speaking with Sky Sports this afternoon... this was something the club had asked her to do... The Granada Tonight piece is arranged by supporters... which will hopefully show that as supporters we mean business and want answers. Once this has been broadcast... I think it's then that we look at what we can do.
Let's not sit here and talk about how we raise money to save the club... lets find out what the money will be for first... because none of us actually know. We need the right people in place to be pro-active and do this properly.
I have also had a long chat with Andy Whyment from Coronation Street... who himself is a Salford lad. Despite him not being a big RL supporter... he absolutely understands the reason for having a professional sports club in the City... and has given the reasons for saving the club his backing. He has offered himself to be interviewed by the news team to give that backing to the supporters and encourage anybody to step forward and help.

That's exactly the kind of momentum you need and a sensible approach as well.

| Why have the Salford club not yet made any official comment? Talk of doing anything to help the situation is rather pointless until the clubs official position is known and a base can be started from there. Time is surely of the essence and the silence is deafening. All that is actually in the public domain is the knowledge that the council turned down a request for a loan, what isn't known is the actual effect and timescales that this action will take. Will the club fall off the cliff by the end of the week or is there more time than that? What is Peels take on all this? Can JW continue to support the club whilst a buyer is found? Why have staff and fans been told next to nothing? A major HONEST statement needs making and quick.

| As I've put on fb. Why is Shirley going on sky at the request of the club? This is something they should be doing themselves. Unless Shirley has become the clubs spokesperson!

I think it's more that Sky went to the club, wanted a supporter, and the club contacted FR. As opposed to the Granada side which was independent of club involvement.

No.. It was the rest of last seasons money given early to pay players wages i believe. I think the RFL only did that so the rest of the league wasn't disrupted during the season personally. But feel in the current climate those funds would be better off helping clubs that are struggling.
I wouldnt want you to get to the stage where the RFL have to help you. Bradford was very nearly liquidated and we were in administration for months.
Good luck

Lets get Geordie Alan on as well and Rat Boy that will get fix things.
I want to hear from the club not a fellow supporter..

Sky asked for a fans point of view on the council decision, that's the reason, not to be the club spokesperson.
Sorry if I wasn't the person you required
