| Only seen Holdsworth a few times this year, was impressed in the Exiles game but what is he like throughout the season?

| Holdsworth clearly had his head turned mid-season and with everything else that has gone on over the 3 years he has been here, we probably can't blame him. He has been decent enough but is not irreplaceable, and if his unhappiness has been undermining the team, then it is best for all that he leaves, and good luck to him.
We as a club simply need to have every player committed to the cause. We are not going to be signing any superstars in the near future, so we need every player who pitches up to be willing to put their body on the line every week and display real pride in playing for the club.
Might I suggest we start by saving some money on Simms' annual Australian jaunt and try to put in place a policy of buying British?

Probably his standout performance this year. That said, he was working behind an actual set of forwards.

| That's the thing, he's too often been behind a beaten pack whilst at Salford. But he's still been a good player on the whole, showing some real class at times - but not irreplaceable. Sure he'll do great at Hull, all the best to him.

| I rate him as a player, and I though he always gave 100% on the field. No sign of hiding behind injuries even though he may not have been happy at the club, and had been talking to Hull for a while.
Anyone else notice that even when the game was gone on Saturday, he tried for a 40/20, which may have been his last kick in a Salford shirt - he was gutted he didnt make it.
I'm not saying he's world class, but he could have helped take us to the next level had off field circumstances been different.
He's a bigger loss than Matty Smith.

[iIn that Exiles game Holdsworth put firmly himself in the shop window.
It's been the worst kept secret for weeks that he was on his way to Hull FC
Now then my opinion for what it's worth about the player himself.
He's very much hot and cold, he appears to me to be the type of player who wants to be the number 1 ie

| Personally, I'm glad to see the back of him. He has moaned and bitched his way through this season with his best mate.
He has talent but has managed to hide it well in this season unless we have been on TV .
I feel he has let us the fans and the club down, we offered him a good contract when no one else wanted him. He has seriously under p[erformed this season.
I expect him to perform well next season for the black and whites.

| How will he go at Hull, well he's light years ahead of any of their current halves, so he will go well in a squad being assembled with a Warrington/Wigan type salary cap.
Whilst I'm not bothered who leaves anymore it only affects the quality of the league as a whole, anything we have gets taken Myler/Ratchford/Turner/Holdsworth/Smith/Gleeson/Moon ?. Unlike the NRL where this seasons cellar dwellers can win the comp next year you can take an educated guess who will be super leagues cellar dwellers.

| Quote: Ave It! "Must say I couldn't disagree more with you.
Holdsworth for me has been superb, yes he's a few off games and maybe his attitude off the pitch isn't brilliant, but for me he is class on his day. Everything comes through Holdsworth and if it wasn’t for him we wouldn't have scored as near as many tries as we have in the last 3 years. Think he was in the top 5 for try assists last season and again this season he's in the top 10. Compare this to Matty Smith who had about 3 try assists to his name for the whole season before he joined Wigan. Also Holdsworth does more defending than any other halfback in the league, which makes his attacking stats even more impressive. I think he will be a massive loss for the team and the style of rugby we want to play and I for one wish him all the best. However he didn't want to remain here (and who can blame him) so it's best for all concerned that he leaves.'"
No problem disagreeing, thats because we're all different. Life would be boring if we were all the same!
The reason DJ was credited with so many assists is the brand of attacking rugby instilled in us by Shaun Long. From an attacking PTB, we appear to have certain set plays, the most heavily used being 9 to 7 to 6 (DJ). 6 then has either a flat ball to a running second rower or centre, or a deep ball to the full back joining the attacking line, depending which play is called. Theoretically, so long as they knew the calls and plays, anyone could adopt that role and succeed. This is the reason Matty Smith never had the same number of assists - he was a distributor. DJ certainly never gave us any "off the cuff" rugby. Don't get me wrong, i thought he did OK - certainly not the worst we've ever had by a long way - its just that he never set the field on fire for me. Like his antipodean mate, Mr Patten, his commitment waned during the year and once that enthusiasm went, so did a fair amount of his positive performances.

| Can start going again now that Mork and Mindy have gone.
Trouble causing moaning pair of barstools who we are well rid of.
When he first came DJ was a breath of fresh air, then his pal came and that all changed.
Once again a player given the platform by Salford after being rejected by everyone else, and who leaves for pastures new.
I hope he remembers that if it was not for Salford he would be either in Japan playing RahRah or in country rugby back in Oz
