Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "Sterling effort, exactly the kind of thing I meant. Tell me if I've missed the post you left here at the time, I rarely bother to login here nowadays, but why wait until now to share this?'"
It's official. Unless you post something on the Turkey IMMEDIATELY then EX.SALF.UNI won't believe you. Shame on you,
Karlos13, for jumping on the bandwagon. Fook me.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "I'd just be more impressed by a poster here seeing these things coming, rather than waiting until it passes'"
Not as impressed as I would be if someone at the club had managed that.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "Yep, that's word for word what I wrote, Pal. Awesome summarising.'"
It ain't that far off the mark from what you're insinuating.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "Are employees of the club not entitled to a day off? Are you gonna pay overtime costs?'"
Yes they are and does it have to be overtime pay? People would have volunteered their time (although they never posted that on here, so you don't believe that they would) so you could do it without any extra cost. Or even, get this for an idea, if it was a paid member of staff dishing out leaflets or opening the shop up you could
give them another day off during the week. Funny, that. I often end up working the odd Saturday and get another day off in lieu, happens in plenty of places, I'm sure Salford could manage it. And even if you can't find cover for the day they take off, you could even put advanced warning out into the wider world that the shop will be shut one extra day during the week. Although I do apologise if such moves would be a bit too forward thinking for both yourself and Salford RLFC.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "And the 'marketing' materials? You got those covered?'"
If we don't have even the smallest marketing budget, we're even more f*cked than some people are suggesting. However, you could always get said marketing materials sponsored. That was discussed on here not that long ago, strangely enough. Plenty of other organisations do that. I'm sure someone would be willing to pay a few quid to have their logo/company name slapped on a cheap leaflet. Again, though, that could be too forward thinking and advanced.
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "I've no idea if organising a marketing event to an unknown number of car boot shoppers is worth the outlay. Neither have you.'"
Surely that's the case with a lot of marketing? The opportunity was there to at least try it. Even having a pop-up banner somewhere (
rlyou know, something like thisrl) with a table, couple of leaflets and fixture lists would've been something. Maybe have the shop open for a couple of hours?
Quote: EX.SALF.UNI "So far I've counted one person claiming they've done that. Hardly a call to arms is it?'"
Ah, right, of course, anyone else who asked the question didn't back it up with a post on the Turkey, therefore it clearly never happened. Tell me, do you walk round with two pencils stuck up your nose and a pair of underpants on your head?
