You're 'glad that we got beat' just so you can make some childish point to get one over on people? Typical of a section of some of the posters on this forum of late.'"
To be fair mate, its not a pethetic post its a truthful one. Why do we bother? Whats the point? Today was disgusting and the players need hanging simple as.

| As always with Salford, it's one step forward, then ten steps back. We could probably beat Hull next week, then concede 50 to London

| How bad was that?
Forget about us not having the heart to scrap with them early on,that was their plan and we should have avoided it.
Widnes played very well but we had no ball in the first half hour and the ref did give them 2 tries by half time.
We were never going to come back from that but the way they scored tries by skinning Gleeson and the Patten was embarrassing.
When we did attack, the fact that we had 2 players out of our usual backline, made a massive difference.
Feel sorry for Sneyd, something's not right.
More people leaving early than I can remember seeing before
All in all,a terrible performance, and Lanky bowled out for 67 !

I feel credit should go to Widnes and their supporters as being whipping boys majority of the season yet they still turn up and give pride to the shirt.
Programmethrower, you say I am glad we got beat but on the hand applaud the Widnes fans for sticking with there club & wearing there shirt with pride! Do you know how stupid you sound.
Yes we were very disappointing, yes we were well & truly turned over but, what is the difference between your statement? Why is it you applaud the Widnes fans for sticking with there club yet continue to pore scorn with glee on our club even though we have played some fantastic rugby & are higher in the league.

| Last night was embarrassing and the players didnt seem to play with any desire or passion.
I dont know if any of you watched the 20s before the first team but they were awesome, they beat Widnes comprehensively and showed massive passion and skills it seems the firsts can only dream of. All is not lost, the future is still bright.

| Give credit where its due, wow there are some 'Trent Robinson like' characters on our forum! Take the bitter pill please.
Widnes were far superior for 80 mins, they were faster, stronger, more skill-full, had the passion and the will to destroy us on our own patch.
Well done to them I say.

I like their radical approach of playing a hooker in the number 9 position, while Vievers persists with a utility player and lumbering second rower in this position for the first team.

Because being Salford I have been in their situation many and time and still am. Turning up expecting / knowing your team is going to get pounded. Yet Salford away support is tragic, maybe you could included home support in that too. Widnes fans where credit last night, turned up not in huge but respectable number anticipating getting beat, also they was vocal, maybe that was due to the fact it was the performance of season from then. I suggest you follow Salford away more, whilst within the 100 or so you think it sounds loud and but take a step you realise its poor and decreasing. So that's why I applauded the Widnes fans.

| Quote: programmethrower "now we could all blame Mr Child till the cows come home but he doesn't drop balls and miss tackles. I'm quite glad we got beat tonight because it will shut the do gooders up and open their eyes to see where Salford really are.I feel credit should go to Widnes and their supporters '"
Dealing with the Widnes followers first - since their days in The Championship they have gone onto forums suggesting Betts should go - have repeatedly stated he is out of his depth in Super League.I believe they are
able to spend the full salary cap after an announcement Steve O'Connor made after they got the Super League License, when he asked the supporters to back a 'Stronghold' where money went into the club throughout the year;nor just a 'lump' when season tickets were purchased. He has put together a large squad of Super League experienced players.
It was after our players did do some decent defensive work that Mr Childs gifted them a number of tries.I have been reminded, via another forum, that he penalised us for 'crossing' -DJ and Marc Sneyd - and his other decisions were also outrageous.2 home defeats when he has refereed that I can recall,of the top of my head.
Obviously,if we signed the players Widnes have signed they would have all been 'rejects' and not a squad of players, who, when gelling together can put a performance in.They did defeat Wigan a few months ago.
With the territory and ball possession Widnes had our players 'ran out of juice'.It was just a very bad day at the office. We still managed to squander 5 scoring opportunities. With Widnes having both Hull clubs visit them in the fixture list, the top 8 is some distance from being finalised.
It was nice to see some supporters remain until the end.
It should also be remembered that 2 of our forwards were absent.Ben Gledhill and Shannan Macpherson and certain players sustained injuries during the game.
It was awful - but not the end of the world. It certainly wasn't when Wigan lost to Widnes.
You never know,if we put a run together we - Salford City Reds - could be the form side going into the play-offs.
Where is Gareth Owen ?
