| Quote: BartonFlyer "Why - clearly people WILL pay that'"
But that doesn't make it right. People will pay the equivalent of around £60 for a Broadway show (that's the minimum ticket price, by the way), that doesn't mean RL should look to it as an example of a good pricing structure. Football has gone away from being a game for the working class and families. Plenty of people who used to go regularly no longer do so because the cost is prohibitive. Those that do still go have either been going for years and are lucky enough to be able to afford it, only do a handful of games each season due to cost, or are there for the experience/corporate side of things. To some people going to the football is the new going to the theatre.
Look at football on the continent. German supporters have kicked off when clubs tried to charge 20 Euros for a ticket. I've been to a Serie A fixture for the equivalent of around £12. These clubs have a vibrant support with youngsters coming through following their team, where as the average age of Premier League football's support base is growing year on year. We could do well to learn from that.

However, the big cheeses at the big Italian clubs aspire to the Premier League model. I'd expect their prices to rise sharply quite soon as they have done in Spain. Sign of the times I'm afraid.

True, but again that's no reason for rugby league to follow suit. I'd suggest the Italians want to do that to purge the supporter base. A bit like the Premier League clubs have been trying to do since 1992.

a couple of years back italian clubs were offering season tickets to women and children for 15 euros, they have a real problem with attendances. only this united were actually standing up to high ticket pricing by who reckon they are charging their fans £77.50 for the europa league so can charge united the same.

A lot of their attendance problems come down to the way general supporters have been treated by the authorities. Where do you think "no al calcio moderno" came from?

Fair play to United for doing that, but they've only gone to Bilbao about it due to pressure from IMUSA and MUST. I don't remember them taking the case to UEFA when the cheapest European Cup Final ticket was £80. And whilst there are a handful of £24 tickets available (most of the seats in those sections are STs, so they're not as readily available to others), there are other tickets ranging up to £42. Then you'll have a booking fee. One mutual friend we have will be paying £60+ for the home leg anyway, so not a million miles away.
It's still expensive and United, city and other clubs still prefer the type of supporter who'll pay the money on the odd occasion as well as spending money in the Megastore. That's just the way football has gone. Look at Arsenal - they have non-corporate STs that cost over a grand. Which brings me back to the point of be careful what you use to gauge affordability on.

Im going for 3.1k im hoping deep down there will be a few more with the weather being nice and having won our last two games. Having said that it’s a good possibility we could also get below 3k. An cembarrassing crowd either way.

| 20 is too much for a non 'die hard' fan to come to the games. I started coming about 5ish years ago when it was a tenner and got a lot of my mates to turn up for odd games. Soon they became more regular attendees, however when i now tell them its 20 the general response is 'that's a bit steep i will give it a miss'.
Also i guess the figures would be better if they actually allowed members to buy their ticket before the match day. I went in last Wednesday to get mine for Hull and was told by the lady on reception that i would have to queue up on the day to get the ticket. Genuinely don't understand the thinking for that, surely refusing to sell a ticket to someone is utterly mental when you are trying to get more fans through the door. Even she thought it was ridiculous

| Unfortunately, the club is run by some people that don't have a clue....but you all know that anyway! There are some really good people that are involved in certain elements of the running of the club, but the 'decision makers' are clowns. It really is SIMPLE to sort out, you just have to want it enough....and that's where the problem lies, 'cos the people i'm referring to, don't care about you, or me, or anything other than turning up and taking a salary...end of!

| Again another exaple of what's going at the club is far from acceptable.
Taken from FacebookAdam Fakes Move with the times? ive tried to buy a season tickets atleast 6 times now via barton, willows and phone and each time there is a fault! You want good attendances? try keeping people who have been going for years by doing somthing as simple as just seling tickets
ANOTHER HAPPY SALFORD FAN

Another water-tight business plan that will no doubt be ignored by 'them'.
