Matty Ashurst looks likely to be a long term casualty with a suspected torn ankle ligament .

a few good performances out there , but our goal line defence was bad again , especially on the right, if we can let Tyrer over for two easy tries god help us against Tompkins ,Carmont & co.

Hope Paleaaesina contributes that vain of form for the season which I guess will be unexpected bonus as most , including me had written him off as a viable impact forward.

Quite like our Triallist 'Stuart Howarth ' ( how long will this registration soap opera carry on ?).

Does anybody know the crowd figure for yesterday? , it was an additional fixture and followed on from a disasterous performance aginst a lively Leigh outfit .

Dantes said Saints have sold out their preason game against Widnes ( sold out home allocation , capacity 12,000) , which for a Friendly is fantastic. We are definately not Saints !

A better gauge will be the attendance for our Wigan Pre season Game? Last year it was 2,545 at the Willows in Jan , & 6,266 for the SL Home fixture in March . it will be the first non restricted attendance so what figure will be reagrded as progress?

firstbus are totally crap at the weekend, spent over an hour on John Dalton St on Saturday night waiting for buses that are every 15 mins, in the end walked down to Salford Central and got the free train home.

As said above, the slow start was more than a bit worrying, if we do that against a top 8 side we're done for. But the rest of the match and the second half were much more encouraging, Tuesday will give us a good indication of how we're shaping up for the year ahead. Quite a few silly penalties given away, I think I saw more crossing penalties yesterday than the whole of last season put together. Still, a much better showing that we need to build on.

Off the pitch, I think yesterday confirmed that the ground is the coldest in the country, even more so than OT cricket ground! Bloody freezing in there, with a wind whipping around the place that wasn't evident outside. Never mind beer, they'll make a killing on Bovril over the next few months.

And the ticketing arrangements... Thankfully I went down to the ground about 12.45 and there was no one there, bought my ticket, no hassle later on. The queue at ten to three was dreadful with plenty of people who'd been in there in good time. Some only got in with 20 minutes gone, plenty of others walked away from the ground. It needs looking at because if we do get a big gate on then it will cause chaos, even with the smaller ticket offices open. Hopefully it's just a case of the staff learning the job and things starting to run smoother.

As ever in RL the pack needs to be at least on par with the opposition to allow the backs to be able to do their thing.
So from yesterday i think we have the makings of a good second row with Anderson and McPherson ( hope the latter is fit as he hasn`t figured for long periods.) Front row was and is still an issue IMO, great to see Feka looking like the player he could be, beyond that i`m not sure. Hard working definitely but enough to drive us off our try line, not sure. That said early days so I try not to get carried away with wins or losses, tho Leigh was hard to take. Not the score, tho that was very embarassing (!) more the performance which was......... icon_beat.gif
Would have preferred this performance against Leigh then build on that against Halifax & then the Pies.
Worried about the injuries Wild and his back & Broughtons groin whilst i obviously don`t know the prognosis for either they are both potential long term issues. Hope i`m wrong particularly for Jodie who could be on for a great year o/s Moon.
Despite everything excited for the start of the season, must be the optimist in me icon_thumb.gif

MR is correct : he is a "loose forward" but I think of the older type where they linked with the 6/7 partnership : he played at stand-off and full-back in his youth.
So as we now expect the "13" to be more a forward, perhaps he is another utility in the 9/6/7/1 area (just like Moon and ...)

Quote: MikeTommo "!

Posted on the Reds FB page about cash turnstiles. They've basically said that the stadium company do not want them. I can see this being a major problem going forward. I worry when team brings a few away fans ala Wigan/Wire etc the ticket office simply wont be able to cope. Only 1800 their yesterday and it looked to me like they were really struggling with those numbers. All a learning experience for them i suppose.'"

You are quite right about the ticket office and it is the procedures staff have to follow which cause the problem.

Yesterday I joined the queue at the ticket office 40 minutes before kick off and got my ticket 5 minutes before kick off. That is from a gate apparently of 1800 so should you ever get a game of 3 times that a fan would have to be there for about 2 hours before kick off.

A sensible way out would be to scrap the booking fee and let fans get tickets via the internet. The ticketing sysyem used at present clearly will never work.

Did anyone else notice that Moon looks fine when he's running but has a shocking limp when just walking, maybe something to do with his dislocated ankle.
Just spotted that Ashurst went off injured but have to be honest and say I'd not noticed him playing which isn't a good sign as thought he was going to be a bit of a coup signing.

the Club should use the Previous seasons policy of having a Discounted Ticket price for pre booked ,( £2.00 Cheaper ) tickets , I know the club think they have 'lowered ' ticket prices , but it obviously doesn't wash with the fans.
That way it will offset some of the pain of the booking fee and convince more to just buy & print off their tickets and speed up entry into the ground .
OK they may ' lose ' money on the ticket price , but increase gates may offset that if the experience using pre bought tickets make the day a better experience without the pain of £2.00 Booking Fee + £ 1.75 for printing the damned thing off on your own printer !

other than that , for SL games , obviously a number of Salford Fans will be using pre paid season passes . there will also be four additional Ticket Windows ( 2 North Stand & 2 South Stand in operation ) for pay on the day guys,

Do they still take your name and address on computer when you buy a ticket on a match day?

I think congratulations seem in order for Messrs Veivers and Long, not forgetting conditioner Mark Barry.
To not only lift the players, from the defeat against Leigh and losing in this game,to scoring 40 unanswered points and winning the 2nd half 30-0 is worthy of congratulations.Particularly against a side coached by Karl Harrison.
Big well done to Joel Moon for returning after his injury to continue in a game of this type.

As I am hoping that SCR go on to a very long winning run at the new stadium, while putting the kybosh on St Helens straight from the off on 10th Feb.does anyone know,or could they be bothered to find out, please, which club has the best run out of those who have moved to new/modern stadia ?

I couldn't make the game icon_evil.gif but was extremely impressed with the updates via the Matchday Live Centre on the club website. My thanks to those responsible.

I won't ask about the crowd response when Halifax took the lead.

The club apparently have nothing to do with ticket sales at the stadium, know that using ticket master is something that they weren't expecting. Do think that the stadium management have shot themselves in the foot by charging postage and booking fees meaning that more people than they expected will buy tickets on the day stretching the facilities at the stadium.

You're right and that's the reason why I'll be surprised if they scrap the booking fee. That's how Ticketline make their money.
