| Tenants in a new stadium, last season's players not good enough and new signings promising little better. Hardly sets the blood racing does it?
The vast majority of us know that we are just there to make up the numbers and without major investment and much better results, our numbers will remain just a few.
But it's still SO SWEET following Salford!!!!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing what Matt can do to improve the players and I'm sure we'll still have one or two nights to remember winning against the odds. We may never make a Grand Final or Wembley.............but you never know, and that faint glimmer of hope is what keeps us going no doubt.

| well written rooted red,i agree,to be able to walk back to my car with a smile on me kipper knowing we might of not won but we had a rite good go,not scurrying into the night hoping nobody spots the colours i wear, all i want is to see my team giving all they have got to the bitter end ,with that mindset the results will begin to turn our way,the lost fans will return, and you never know, wembley old trafford? dare to dream.

He has a very valid point, you are an utter toss pot.

| I'll give ExSalfordUNI his due though, he's creative with his scorn. I can accept that as dark wit. Calling fellow fans a bell-end or a toss-pot is not really going to garner you any support even if you have a valid point.
I feel a little bit sad after reading this thread for some reason.

I'm not trying to garner support from anyone. Someone tries to post constructive criticism of the club or the way it operates and without fail ExSalfordUni exaggerates what they have put in a hilariously unfunny way. I'd call that a boring waste of time as opposed to creative.

I know exactly what you mean.
Opinions are divided and emotions running high, yet we all crave the same result.
I can see both sides as I'm sure others can.
For years I've been following this club, hoping that the good times will return, whilst realistically sensing that another year of failure looms large.
People can only stomach so many false dawns, and will eventually call time.
'Original Red Devils seems to be losing faith, despite the fact that he is possibly some 25 years of torment behind me.
Ex Salf Uni is a WUM/P1ss Taker of the highest of order, and whilst I would hate to spend any time in his/her company for that reason, he/she is never far from the mark.
About a year I stated on here that as far as I could see this club is on the brink ..... It's make or break time, and whilst I truly hope we step up and at long last the fans have something to cheer wildly about, I honestly fear that we may actually never make the grade.
I do not wear red tinted speccies, I can clearly see the blatant clangers which the club offers up time and again, but I am certainly not any more capable/financially able than those in control, and as such I'll continue to roll with the punches.
Some Turkeyites do seem to have a superior attitude and others have a plain stupid one.
Let's pray for better times ahead at long, long last

| For over 50yrs i have followed the reds, being dragged along as a young lad by my dad watching the likes of harry council, charlie bott etc, along came mr Snape, glory days, didnt need dragging anymore i flew there. Why?,Mr Snape bought quality players,a team you would die for now,and then what,a chairman who means well but as not got the money or the nous to take our club to the top, tarry is a joke, simms?god help us.I know its hard to get a marquee signing to come to us,but would you be itching to sign?Yes if it was my last chance saloon.I feel that in Matt Parrish saying it as it is we have a chance,we the fans as always, the board and our chairman, must, must back this man to the hilt, otherwise i feel its a lost cause.

Think everyone accepts that the new stadium is pretty much a last chance saloon for the club to get it right, however it is a new start for the fans as well, we can do a lot more than we think to help the club grow attendances etc.
This time last season peope we saying 'top 8' etc cos we had signed so called big name players. Didn't quite work out like that did it? Now everyone is complaining about a lack of signings meaning we will struggle next season. Who's to say it won't have the opposite effect. Big signings don't guarantee success, as we saw last season.
As for the sqaud, not sure why Davidson and Marriott are written off on here after one superleague apperance, unless anyone has been watching them regularly for the academy. Hopefully someone will show a bit of faith in Sneyd and give him 4-5 games although he will proabably have to wait for injuries. How many people have seen Gledhill play? James is not an ideal signing but I will wager that he goes better than Ste Nash does at Cas. Also think Adamson could go well under some decent coaching.
Am actually looking forward to next season. Much prefer watching us when we are the underdogs and being written off, rather than under a cloud of unrealistic expectations.

| Getting this thread back on topic.
I would guess MP doesn't even know where he's going to play the new guys yet. Moon's been playing centre, his agent makes out his best position is 13, but MP has been quoted as saying what good 6 Moon is. Then we have McPherson, I'm sure MP would rather add his size to the backrow, but since we're struggling for quality in the front row, it would be fair to guess he'll play prop.
I'd go for:
Patten - great attacker, he needs to improve his defence
Broughton - fastest man in SL, needs to sort out his defence
Gleeson - when fit he was our best centre last season
Nero/Moon - as long as Gibson isn't allowed near the shirt again I'll be happy!
Williams - Can't believe we've got him, I'm amazed someone criticised him in this thread
Holdsworth - let him lead the attack & give the captaincy to someone else
Smith - I'm not his biggest fan, he works well with DJ
*
Godwin - one of our success stories, brings an urgency and enthusiasm the team really needs.
*
McPherson - really hope we use his size on the second row.
Wild - works hard
Anderson - need his in attack, one of our best attackers but worst defenders.
Ashurst
Sneyd
*
*
* the prop situation is MPs biggest headache

| Can I just take this opportunity to point out that Lee Jewitt made more meter's per carry than Ray Cashmere last season (second only to Feka in that department ), I'm not sure he's as useless as some make out. Also the amount of time last season when I heard people having a dig at him for giving away penalties was laughable when in fact out of our regular pack (Cashmere, Neal, Palea'aesina, Adamson, Anderson, Wild, Sidlow, Boyle & Nero) he gave away the fewest with only 8! I'm happy for him to be in the 17 every week.
I'dust to echo Karlos13's comments on this thread, I think he's got it spot on.

| I've been against jewitt in the past, but he is quick for a prop.
The only trouble is, he's not the stereotypical 6 foot 4 inch plus modern day prop.
On the flip side, he is powerful in both attack and defence.

Think the fact that Feka being our top metre maker per carry is a positive if he can get a bit fitter then he can do more carrys.
I rate lee Jewitt certainly grown up into a solid professional this season
