| So we deserved a draw then did we coach McRae?
Well it would have had to be 0-0 because if the game had been played to midnight the Reds still would not have scored last night.
OK our defense last night was pretty solid but in order to win games you have to 'ATTACK' and score points last night our attack at times was crap to say the least.
Never mind it's the French next week and of course they are also crap and we fully expect our first win of the season but will we win that is the big question this week.

You could be right but any coach is only as good as his players and last night our players failed to shine/score.
My main moan about last night was the lack of ball Talau recieved I'm sure the big man only got a handful of passes all the game.

| Some people really need to join the real world. I have never been a particular fan of McRae throughout his career, and certainly wasn't overwhelmed when he joined Salford. Likewise since then we have had a mixed bag - although he took us out of NL1, helped get us into SL, and produced some fantastic results last year (Saints/Leeds).
But this season in particular, he is clearly working on a severely restricted budget, and as a result, with a limited squad. It is completely unrealistic to think the likes of Noble or Tony Smith (coaches who maybe could do a better job) would come to Salford. And those coaches who might - up and comers from NL1 or the like - do not have the profile or the experience McRae has to offer. Plus he is a regular on Sky, keeping Salford's profile raised.
McRae has always been a coach who trains his team, gives them a game plan, and then sends the team out there with a responsibility to execute the plan correctly. It is frustrating when that doesn't happen, and also when no apparent action is taken from the sidelines to try to rectify the situation. But again, given the limited nature of our squad this season (less options than last), it could be argued that we don't have a plan B because we don't have anyone who can come on and change a game.
In a nutshell, we all need to get behind the coach and the team. McRae is doing a decent job this year under the circumstances. The only win we need to achieve this year is a new stadium, because no amount of wins are going to keep us in SL without that. I'll pay my money, and trust Mr Wilkinson to spend it wisely.

| What he will have brought are the building blocks for Salford to be a force to be reckoned with in years to come. He did it at saints and Hull and the Rabbits from wht i have seen he is very good at building a club structure but then a new coach needs to come in to make it kick on

| I would suggest that SM will stay on as head coach until we hopefully move to the new stadium where the club I suspect will be looking for a big name coach to match the new grander scale.
Would think that maybe SM would remain with the club in some capacity.

| still don't rate him, he has managed to coach out some of the players skills, Ratchford is going downhill fast, imagine if Myler would have stayed for another season he would have ended up back at widnes as a very poor scrum half. McRae has brought next to nothing to the club, when put on the spot he answers the questions with answers which have nothing to do with the question. John Kear has a similar budget to us and a similar squad but they pull out the stops and get good wins, McRae looks for draws only it seems, damage limitation gameplans will not win matches, last night when we attacked we got near the line and all ideas had gone. When we did have the ball 4th or 5th tackle bradford's fullback and one winger were dropping back 40 to 50 metres behind the line, what did we do? kicked long into their arms, where a short dink over the defending line a couple of times may have put us through gaps and possibly over the line. Also the backs would not draw back so far, they were not put under pressure at all, I could see this from the club end so surely the SLUG could see what was happening and why not get a message out. No he is a very poor coach when it comes to working with mediocre to average players he is not the man for that job.

I noticed that also, think there had been a little niggle just before he got subbed so would have thought it was a carry on from that.

| After a close defeat by a better side this is an active thread? Just to check, is everyone on here aware they're posting on a Salford board? Poor attendances, poor income streams, spending below the cap and it's the coaches fault? Right then.
After Rhino the best we could afford was an SL winning coach. At times I really don't understand our fans. Just to give a quick tip, the chances of Bennett, Sheens or Bellamy coming to Weaste are somewhere between impossible and never happening. McRae can only coach what JW can afford.
We got behind the team on Friday and they worked hard for the cause. Let's keep it up regardless of what you think of the coach.

| No disrespect but we passed the stage of blind faith several years ago.
The basic premise is "we are Salford- what do you expect". That is a facile argument because we have gone backwards at a time when several other clubs have progressed (Wakefield, Castleford. Huddersfield, Hull KR, etc.). If other clubs can do it why not Salford? What is uniquely bad about us?
If the club fails to address issues such as: poor attendances, poor income streams, having poor coaches, etc. then the future is bleak indeed.
Who is going to pay 18 pounds every week to watch the team struggle against the "weaker" teams in SL? For the record the three games we have lost this season were fixtures we won last year!
If you also consider the significant decrease in comparable crowds (a victory for the ill conceived membership scheme) it is understandable that some supporters are less than happy.
Finally, as I recall, Kear was out of a job before Wakefield appointed him, Noble went to Crusaders and Millward is at Leigh (not Melbourne Storm). All of which suggest there are good coaches out there and that Salford have missed good opportunities. But then again we are just unlucky.
I realize that one should never criticize the club or its lack of direction- so I offer these as observations rather than criticisms.

| Anyone else hear the slug say he had been with the Melbourne team all Thursday. WTF is he doing there when Salford had a game on Friday night.
Shows where his loyalties lie.
Fook off to Sky permanently before you totally destroy our club.
BTW isnt a certain Mr Hanley available ?
