however we would have to convince his missus that we could open a French school in Salford.

Bryan Habana the winger? Certainly got plenty of pace
Some of the All Black team look to have a good mix of pace, power & skill.
One of them or another Pacific Islander to go alongside Willie Talau would certainly be a formidable pair of centres.

| to be honest young danny I only tend to watch the six nations and world cup and thats only cause it on terrestrial tv
even though it is quite possibly as boring as dry toast there are some quality "rugby" players who i'd love to see in league
i.e
Richie McCaw
Dan Carter
Bryan Habana
Frédéric Michalak
Jerry Collins
Juan Martin Hernandez
Stirling Mortlock(best name in rugby ever)

| Captain Planet, you know far too much about the dark side to be healthy. I put it to you that you are in fact a union mole.

| Ignoreing the idiotic and blinkered anti union cack on here there are many players who'd make a brilliant rugby union convert.
For me Henson wuold be ideal as he seems to be cheesed of with the WRU and the game in general and i'd think he'd make a classy centre with the handling skills of a half back and would be a revelation with the kicking duties.
Not likely to happen but if you think about the column inches and increased sponsership wouldnt be a great increase in wages needed i'd suspect.
I wouldnt be surprised if O'Driscol didnt give RL a try and would see Saints as his only destination as seem to have read some place heknows the chairman and loves watching themwhen he gets the chance.
But overall you'd think that most of the current All Blacks RU team would become top class RL players with very little effort.

| my union player knowledge is shocking. Tried to name as many players as i could think of: Jonah Lomu, Johnny wilkinson, Gavin Henson, and thats it.
the rest i just put into catagories: the little fat hairy ones, the big fat hairy ones and the skinny guys out on the wing

You've just described Littleborough RU matey.
The professional RU players have certainly improved a great deal in terms of athletic prowess and I'd suggest that there may well be some decent wingers who could probably convert to League. As for all the other positions I really can't see any union player being able to make the transition. There are just too many subtleties that you can't see from the terraces that need to be mastered. This takes many years to do. For example Kevin Penny. Blistering pace, fairly decent hands and not scared to throw his body at the opposition yet time and time again he gets found out by the most average of teams purely because of the lack of knowledge and subtle skill built up over many years.
As for Gavin Henson. No bloody chance. He might put his shoulder into attacking players in Union but the dynamic attacking lines and forever changing angles of League would flumux him. Same applies to his passing. Too many variations and subltleties never mind the guile that the great RL players posess.
I've spoken at length with my Union Buddies about this very subject and the conclusion we came to is that although very loosely based on the same origin, the comparison of Union and League is about as pointless as comparing snooker and billiards. yeah they may look similar to the untrained eye but couldn't be more different. The same applies by and large to the players.
