| I personally don't see the massive problem with Offiah behaving in the way he, allegedly, has done...he's an agent and it's a major part of his job to get his client as much as he can which is what he's doing...IMO he's getting grief for doing what every other agent the world over does because he's a "name"...if his agent was Joe Bloggs (great agent as well as great clothing line!!) then I don't think there'd be as much hand-wringing over the agent's involvement.
If he wants to leave then so be it, just don't mess us around as others have done in the recent past.

| as Danny (LOYAL FAN) put so well in another Myler thread Warrington are taking a massive gamble signing Myler. Offaih is only doing what any other agent would do and that is to get the best deal for him and the player . IMO i would like Myler to have a couple more seasons at Salford before he comes to us let him learn his trade away from the spotlight

In a way yes.... but no.
It's simple... It's worth too much to Offiah to even think of agreeing a deal with Salford. He's being sweetened from all angles by Warrington... and I have no doubt that there is an agreement between Offiah and Warrington already made. Offiah is just playing the game with Salford before we agree to make Myler available... once we do... In Warrington go. What worries me is that they make a small offer... if we refuse... then Offiah will just instruct him to sit out the next 18 months of his contract before moving for free.
Lets just enjoy seeing him in a Salford shirt for the rest of the season. The sooner we resign ourselves to losing him the better. The consolation being that he will work his tripe out for the rest of the season as he has the England 7 shirt in his sights for the 4 nations.

But he can't can he? As he would still be under 23 wouldn't we still be able to claim a fee for him? (either by agreement with another club or at a tribunal)

Correct.... When I say free... I perhaps should have said that he would move without us being able to set our own fee... my mistake.

| ok so if the Myler camp (ie martin Offiah) has turned down the offer let him go asap, if he or his agent doesnt want him to be here then time to move him on for the top price.
Id also drop him from the team, he's starting to look a bit jaded now anyway, a rest might be good for him, somthing to get use when his carrer goes bump at warrington.
We have to think about Salford city reds, move Smith to scrum half and Rachford to standoff see if they can build a partnership no point in playing Myler anymore if this is true doesnt benefit Salford city reds him developing only improves warrington or saints at a later date. should be viewed as a nackered 33 year old who's legs have gone stopping the youth developement at the club
Thanks for the memories Richie, its a shame it had to end this way but Rugby league is a short career yada yada yada you have to chase the money before any success.
Success doesnt pay the morgage unfortunatley and if somebody offers you £100 to pay 1 house or £5 to pay another you'll do the £100 one 1st lets hope in 15 years time the trophies you won at salford ant the only thing you ever won.

Pretty much spot-on.

That post goes for me too sadly. In the same way it is important for Myler to do what is best for him - we should do what is best for us now. Highest price we can get for Myler and try and forge a partnership between players who are staying. I have nothing against Myler about this - it all makes sense sadly but it does call into question how the supposed equality of the Franchise System operates in actuality?

You're not seriously suggesting that Martin Offiah made the decision, against Myler's wishes are you? If you are then that's a pretty strong allegation which I'm sure you can back up. If you're not then it follows that Myler turned it down, not Offiah as you suggest.

He will still be under 22 upon expiration of his contract, so will still command a fee. No lose situation financially for Salford.

I believe that Offiah is doing his utmost to get Myler to Warrington. He'll have told him what he thinks he should do... and that will be to turn down the Salford offers and get set for a Warrington move. Myler has already said that he's leaving it up to his agent... which from that quote alone says that the offer is being refused by Offiah.
Either way... as an agent... Offiah will benefit financially whatever the option... he'll just benefit more if he goes with Warrington.
