| Before the start of the season I felt Salford needed at least three points from the first four games. (Still on course for it.) Purely because it's the 'easiest' extended run of games we have all season. I wasn't expecting much from the defence because Salford didn't do the job well last year either.

33469.jpg IF WIDNES DESERVE A PLACE IN SUPER LEAGUE.......THEN THE POPE IS JEWISH!:33469.jpg |
|
| I expect to see with 3 years of no worries of relegation to see what the whole point of this franchising system is all about!A salford team full of young local lads coming through and showing grit and determination and pride in wearing the salford shirt come win or lose!!!
Not a load of has been semi super league standard players using us as a retirement home to keep the pennies coming in until its time for em to get normal warehouse job, when there use by date expires!....and also a load of aussie imports who are deemed not good enough for nrl but in steve simms eyes (after his recruitment holidays) gonna set super league on fire!
As a season ticket holder of 4 seasons(i know some can say longer)ive already paid my way for this year, but if i was a £17 paying spectator every other week i'd get more enjoyment seeing the likes of lewis palfry, spencer, ratchford ,walton and co giving it there all than the misery of the last 2 away games.I like many didn't relly expect us to be coming bck over the hills with the points in the bag,but was seriously tempted to do one at half time in the last 2 games watching the half hearted poop that we have witnessed!
I'd love to know what goes on in mr Mcraes training sessions!!as ero lessons were learnt against cas from the previous week against wakey!

Agreed. I'd go further. I expected most Salford fans to understand that stepping up a division in any sport is difficult and takes time. The squad we had last year didn't become world beaters the minute we got the nod for a franchise. If after ten games we're still looking off the pace then by all means stay away/protest/post angry stuff on here but give McRae and the team a proper go of it first.

| The reaction is nothing to do with two poor results; the reaction is about two shockingly inept performances - we are quite used to defeat.

The glass is half-full when you look at it that way!
Is anyone else getting a bit miffed with this "Super League pace" excuse? Whilst I accept that teams in SL do play at a higher tempo than NL, given that a lot of our squad has a lot of SL & NRL experience (as was posted elsewhere) - it shouldn't take that long to get back to the pace we should be at, should it? (considering we were only in NL for 1 year and we have played 3 friendlies against SL opposition which should have helped bridge the 'pace' gap, and whilst not wishing to disrepect Cas & Wakey, they weren't exactly at the top end of the table last year)
Maybe it's just cos I was disappointed that the SL experience we had in our squad last year couldn't dictate games to be played in NL at 'SL pace' given our full-time status

| I am one of the posters who have cited "SL Pace" as a problem for us and something we have not yet adjusted to and its more of an observation than an excuse for getting hammered. It is not the sole cause of all our ills but i do believe has contributed. When i talk of pace i dont just mean the physical side of the game i also mean speed of thought. I agree we have experienced SL and NRL players individually but the "team" has some inexperienced players too and until we are running and thinking at SL pace we will look disjointed. Speed of thought is crucial in all aspects of the game, spotting the gaps picking the man to tackle etc all are helped by marrying speed of movement with speed of thought. Ultimately its no use being the fastest strongest runner or best tackler if you never get into the positions to use those skills. Just my honest opinion and observation.

| I guess Super League pace is just this seasons excuse, waiting for the pitches to firm up is sooooo 2007.
In all seriousness, all I have ever asked is for every player to give 100% for 80minutes. If we get beat by a better team with better players then so be it, but you can't ask any more.
What I expected is exactly what is happening, I've followed Salford long enough to have seen it all before. Nothing that club does could surprise me now, if a flying saucer landed at half time I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

| I expected:
The new signings to be an improvement on previous overseas players.
To win the first game.
Achieve a competitive showing in the next two.
Beat Quins at home.........
Up to now I'm disappointed to say the least. However for some strange reason I think we still might win on Friday. If so, things may suddenly seem a lot brighter.
I expect I'll continue to be optimistic over the Club's future despite evidence to the contrary
........and the two football fans I'm taking to see Salford v Wigan for their first game of rugby to LOVE IT!!!!
