Quote: John Gilbert Reds "It’s all quite simple. If Rangi Chase did not want to leave Castleford, he or his representatives would issue a statement confirming as much. If Castleford Tigers did not want Rangi Chase to leave, they too would issue a statement confirming he is not for sale. The facts are Rangi Chase hasn’t issued any such statement and Castleford have confirmed Salford’s offer (circa £60k) has not met their valuation, which suggests they have a price in mind and therefore a negotiation will in ensue until both parties are happy.'"

What he said...
Cas reject offer and keep face with their fans until a we couldn't refuse offer appears/we don't want to stand in the players way. We know we've been there.

Quote: John Gilbert Reds "Bet we offered £200,000 or £250,000 if they took McGoldrick !!'"

Surely it would be £500,000 to take him off our hands. icon_wink.gif

As I have mentioned earlier, some people are living in a dream world with some of the figures quoted with regards to a transfer fee. I would be surprised if the final fee was any more than £150k.

It obviously helps when the player wants the move to happen too.

Quote: Wayward Fan "If we really did offer £60k we deserved to have it chucked back in our faces.'"

I agree I would have thought at least £100k even in todays oppressive market.

What surprises me is Hull KR recently made a statement saying they refused a substantial offer from Salford for Dobson, with this in mind I can't imagine Salford making a diresory offer for Chase.

He was never gonna go anywhere for 60k thats for sure!

Who knows what the figure will end up, But I think you will be digging a lot deeper than that.

We do not want him to leave, We have said that on many an occasion. But cannot say he isn't for sale, As every player in every sport has a price.

I think the first offer is sensible & a negotiating ploy. The transfer market is dead - we are still in recession and clubs bar a couple (Castleford included) are losing money each and every day. Cas know the date of his contract draws ever nearer each day and there is a depreciating value attached to that.

Any transfer fee is bunse to the club. Cas didnt spend any money to get him in the first place from St George.

I would be surprised if the Chairman doesnt go back - maybe next month BEFORE their match with Warrington as Cas will have been without gate income for about a month - and ups the offer to maybe £90k to £100k.

Sometimes its better to deal knowing that there is a market of One (dont think other clubs will be shelling out transfer fees). Who knows what might happen to the player in the meantime. Going back a long time - Billy `Daz` Davies was sold to Wigan for - what was then a huge fee - £10k. I think he played one match and never played again but stand corrected if my old brain hasnt got the figures right.

Hold on Chairman and see them again on 1st August.

Spot on. £60k is a sensible starting point, whether you're buying a house, car or one of the best players in Super League your first offer is always going to be refused. By starting as low as we have, it gives us room to improve our offer and ultimately settle at an amicable figure.

Its called negotiation, something Dr Koukash knows more about than most.

Castleford have to weigh up the financial advantages to any offer. If selling Chase (one of the most watchable players in SL) knocks 500 off the attendance of every home game over the last two years of his contract that is a loss in revenue of £260k. The club will also become less attractive to sponsors as our player who receives most publicity and promotion will not be there.
Unless the offer is 300k+ I would imagine Castleford would be financially better off keeping Chase for the next two years.

Your forgetting the important part in the £360k saving they'll achieve through the remaining 2 years on his contract.

His replacement, Ryan McGoldrick will be much cheaper too icon_wink.gif

Obviously. But this seems to be a statement to appease the Castleford supporters before the announcement that he has gone or an effort to try and provoke a response from other clubs.
I cannot understand why the Castleford club have made this announcement but remianed silent back in the winter

Well said i think the salford supporters think there gonna get him for peanuts. Its not worth cas selling him unless its a big figure and mr k may have money to spend but 60k is an insult to chase and if thats their starting relationship cant see this one happening.

Quote: John Gilbert Reds "
It's well known that Chase will probably become one of, if not the highest paid player in Super League should he join Salford, a salary that would compliment his status as probably the second best player in the competition behind Sam Tomkins. In comparison to Castelford, we are also highly ambitious due to our wealthy owner and I think that in addition to the salary increase that is what appeals to Rangi. A player of his ability should be taking part in the play-offs year on year and reaching semi finals and finals of major competitions on an annual basis, there is much more chance of that happening with Salford over the next 4/5 years than at Castleford.'"

And you go and offer £60k for him.........

If your ambitious, If you've got Money If he's the Second best player in the league and if you dont want to continually be the ridiculed, Or have Dr Koukash have pot shots taken at him, offer Castleford a hundred grand and stop messing about.......

recently koukash has commented on signings that are "almost over the line" or a "done deal" but not mentioned "out of respect to their current club".

this signing appears to be neither as its not near the line and you arent showing Cas any respect.....

Course he won't be going anywhere for 60000 Koukash will be just testing the water first, abit like Uniteds offer of 12million for Layton Baines. This offer will rise until both clubs agree.

If you base it on us having say 3000 Members, We would only have to increase the price by £30 next season to cover the transfer fee your talking about. The majority wouldn't begrudge that to keep the best player in the league.

At the end of the day, If you want him your going to have to pay for him.

It was suggested that Rangi Chase is trying to push the deal through, As the money your offering him is ridiculous - Which there isn't many people in the world would turn down about a 50% pay rise. But, He signed the deal, The biggest deal in the clubs history, And we are within our rights to hold him to it.

If I was Cas - I would make it very simple - Buy his contract out - Or look elsewhere.

We all know, If Marwan wants him, Then he has the money to buy him. We will aim to make sure the deal benefits us, And £100'000 is not gonna come close IMO
