Quote: Max "Take your point on owen though he does scoot from dummy half, when he come on as impact against a tiring defense. Wagga starts and does the hard stuff first. Also this is only his 3rd game this season. Fans have the shortest memories, wagga was one of the top performers from last season and got a freak injury in first game. That first 20mins today salford didnt even touch ball so how can wagga scoot, would have Owen done any different??'"

Max - as Waggas agent you are doing him a disservice. I never suggested Howarth was a scooter - he gets the line moving though. I am not anti Wagga - more pro Owen at the moment as more attacking options come from Owen & Howarth currently.

Hooker should be Wagga and Owen with Howarth either on bench and interchanging with Wild or just not selected and I'd like to see Sneyd playing a few games instead of Holdsworth. Once again he had no idea what to do and the fact that Gibson had to slow down for him to get the try shows how unfit the fella is. Hopefully he'll see just how important the position is and it might give him the kick up the backside that he needs. As for fullback, anyone wo knows how to tackle and position himself correctly would do for me. Patten, with the exception of his attacking abilities, is one of the poorest fullbacks we've had. Yes he'll be missed next season in the attacking lineup but atleast we might have a fullback who's in the right position and communicating with the team. Last line of defence is vital!

Or to look at it from a different perspective.
Holdsworth went from defence to backing up Gibson, who is quick.
That shows how fit Holdsworth is.
If he has no idea then how come he put Nero through the gap and ,I think, gave the long pass for Gibson to score?
Patten is not the best defensive full back we've had,not in Gary Broadbents class, but he more than makes up for it in attack where he's one of the best.
Starting with Feka doesn't work, you need the energy that James or Jewitt has ,to create the right platform early on.
Patten and Holdsworth need a platform and did well when we gave them one.

Sky will not have sold any dishes. On the back of that, tonight.I am sorry to say it,we are going worse.Vievers can have
no crib, because he new what was coming, we are a laughing stock.I am also sorry to say,I will not be going to the
Leeds game.maybe If more stayed away, the powers that be,might start to run the club professionally.I don't think
Wilkinson will be walking out at Wembley this year.

People wonder why we fail to attract new and dormant support, Well tonight was the perfect example. Again another camp and woeful performance in front of the sky camera's, thats the best i can describe these bunch of forwards "CAMP". At least the backs tried to fling the ball about due to the lack of punch. The pack should be ashamed of themselves especially Nero and Jewitt. PV's aim was to improve every week well he's failed BIGTIME, it's evident the tactical ploy's have altered offensively and defensively, Smith isn't controlling the game he looks shot of confidence at the minute lacking dial and nouse with a shocking kicking game. Houldsworth and Patten drift in and out the game to much and we're heavily reliant on these two, we look out of shape defensively lacking cohesion and steel. The squad looks flustered and unsettled to me to which Phil Clarke touched upon. " Salford forwards look like they've nothing to play for" summed the whole thing up for me, top eight, NEVER with our louis spence forwards.

You lot want to get a grip, I'd give my right arm to have the Lions playing top flight Rugby league and be protected for three years. It's not that long ago when many of you were claiming top eight status was a formality and to be honest the way you played against St Helens( I know you eventually lost) it probably wasn't a bad shout. Well ok so you now have gone four losses on the bounce but you do have some half decent lads and believe me that is hard to say comming from a swinton fan, tonight you met a team who knew they had to win and your lads only started to play in the last twenty minutes at which point you looked the better side, a bit more composure and you would have won that game. I almost get the feeling that it's getting to the point of shouts for Vievers to go, which would be a mistake as you look a far better team under him than you ever did under the previous two incumbents. You really need to get behind the lads at times like this.

Big well done to the travelling support who never resorted to booing the players, especially at half-time,and were nearly rewarded at the end.
Bad day at the office. They have a free weekend coming up and we are carrying injuries. They have also recently added to their squad with Sykes - number 34 !
Hopefully the players will reward those travelling supporters with a performance next Sunday.

I was being ironic.

Paul Charlton was the best I've seen.

What a performance! A total embarrassment.

These examples of complete incompetence are what's keeping regulars away, never mind failing to attract new fans.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Good riddance to Patten, his defence is a JOKE.
Feka is a complete goon. Giving a penalty on the sixth tackle is UNFORGIVABLE
Our forwards are LIGHTWEIGHT. A Wakefield side that has been described by their own Coach as 'being pushed around every week' totally dominated us.
Smith is playing like he's already signed up somewhere else for next season.
Moon has been dragged down to the standard of the players he's surrounded by.
Owen, (One of the few highlights this season) DROPPED!!!!

I could go on, but it's there for all to see. WE ARE CRAP.

Anyone know whats happened to Boyle and Sidlow. Are they injured or just not being selected??
Mcpherson for me just isnt big enough to be a prop forward..
I hope it isnt just a case of----------------" well were paying him/them big bucks , so theyre guaranteed a starting place" icon_mad.gif

Luke Patten is THE worst defensive fullback I have ever seen at Salford. But he is the best attacking fullback weve had [ last 25 years anyway ]
His positional sense is none existant for the kick recieve. Reminds me a lot of Fitzy [never know what to expect when trying to collect a high kick ]
Feka wants dropping for giving that last penalty !!!!!

Quote: "Think thats the whole point . Owen tends to scoot from dummy half and gain us much needed ground, and penalties for opposition not standing square etc[as in the Hull game which ultimately won us the match in the final minute'"

Thats exactly what was needed last night..We have a lightweight pack and just couldnt make the yards up the middle to bring us away from our own line, then we end up kicking from our own 30 metre line .

Quote: Max "And also on the Howarth comment, when salford eventually got on top do you even recall 1 run from dummy half???? From quick plays aswell!! No!! Have you seen the shape of the ball from his passing??? I recall 2 salford attacks near wakefields line when he actually passed it over smiths head!'"

I have been saying this all season. Granted, his passing from the floor has improved since he arrived but there are still technical deficiencies concerning his distribution which impact directly on our attack.
