| What position/roll is he actually joining the club to take up?
I find it hard to believe that if we are looking at Sheens coming on board in a position of rugby manager that he would not have been consulted on Gouldings appointment.
RL has too much of a tradition of jobs for the old boys, for me it is one of the reasons such a brilliant game as ours is run in such an archaic way.

| Blimey!
Give the fella a chance.
I'm an 'Old time' fan rather than a 'new age' fan. I didn't realise we had any of those...Anyway...
I don't understand why we as longtime sufferers should knock the enthusiasm of any of our own support, however misguided it may be. Christ! we're almost on the endangered list we're that rare, and long term sufferers like us are even rarer. I'm not sure what Goulding could bring to the table in all honesty, but writing him off before we even know what he's being appointed to seems harsh to me.
If you're embarrassed by the Salford fans offering encouragement to someone, maybe avoid social media for a bit. I'm sure it wont be long before the traditional doom and gloom returns and we'll feel a lot more comfortable measuring who's ennui is longer in our cosy forum melancholy.
FFS get a grip.

| If Theo can't learn from Goulding he will not learn at all I am glad he is on the coaching staff.

| An appointment that raised an eyebrow as I wouldn't want BG any where near Widnes - but it's right you should wait and see how he does before having a go.
His track record isn't great in RL even with the French national team which people seem to mention, he pipes on about wanting a job as head of youth and has been extremely critical of HofY Phil Finney at Widnes about his role (which is graded outstanding).
Will be very interesting to see how he does.

Everyone's got an opinion, some will differ from others. Life, innit?
As it is, I can't see what he'd bring and agree with JRG. It just doesn't look like a decent appointment to me. But hey ho, we shall see.

| I'm willing to see what role BG gets and give him a chance in it before I cast judgement. If it's as some sort of attacking coach then I can only see where his skills and knowledge could be a huge influence on the likes of Theo (for as long as we have him!). If he's being brought in as Social Secretary we're fooked!
As for the plebs out on Tw@tter it's embarrassing. I follow half a dozen people on there, the likes of Stephen Fry, David Lloyd, Jonathan Agnew... people that have something interesting to share with the rest of the world. Seems like the majority of people/r*tards use it to become "cyber friends" with Z list celebs and spout nonsense all day!
Maybe at 37 im jus not wiv it innit lyk da kids ov 2day?!

| I agree with The Butcher. Give him a chance. Sean Long was a troubled guy, we took him on and he proved that he could improve our attacking game. So much so that Saints have taken him on. Goulding was a brilliant scrum half. He played at Wembley when we beat the Aussies in the 'Sean Edwards' test match. I think he 'could' have a lot to offer. Why not wait and see?

| Quote John Gilbert Reds="John Gilbert Reds"Just had a look at Bobbie Gouldings Twitter page and some of the retweets from Salford fans are cringeworthy. These new-age fans we've got, seem to think the pre requisite of a good coach is one that a) use to play for Salford, b) tweets A LOT and c) replies to tweets A LOT.'"
Not just your fans, a few weeks ago he was linked to FC basically begging for the job on Twitter. People were messaging the club & all sorts thinking he'd be a good addition.
