He also said Marc Sneyd is our boy and he's coming back to Salford. Sorry if it upsets people on here but your owner has mislead you before and you still continue to fall for it. Here's a straight question. How many of you bought season tickets on his promise of "top 4, top 6 minimum." Go on, give an honest answer and if he had given a money back guarantee on it would you be asking for your money back. Hard hat on ready for being accused of being a troll when OP can say what he wants about Cas and Wire fans.

| He could be talking about bringing Gaz Owen back from Sheffield, or maybe signing Brierley from Leigh, he's a Salford lad after all. Other than that, I would struggle to see where the rest would fit in.
We've got Dobbo, Chase and Fages, so spending big and Stef or Myler doesn't make sense. Sidlow is great one minute and then utter garbage the next. Turner would probably what big money, but would you really swap him for Sau or Caton-Brown, and I was never convinced about him being strong enough for Loose Forward.
Unless he's talking about an NRL or Union based player, I don't think there's any one else that would improve us.

| No room for the likes of Myler or Turner. Both of which I would not want back due to having better options already. Ratchford is a no go because we have better players in his position(s) also. We're still a bit iffy in the hooking role so Owen would make sense. Can't see Brierley as his positions are covered by better players, even though I think he's a talented player.
We need a Hooker and a Prop, maybe two props. We don't need any of our former players, currently, back with us.

Quote Magic Superbeetle="Magic Superbeetle"before having a little rant about how brilliant salfords youth is under koukash, you might want to read this: media.therfl.co.uk/docs/Academy% ... 202014.pdf - I'm sure Salford are making great strides, but there's still a long way to go...'"
This, imo, should be the focus in the off-season for MK. I think with Harris coming on board and identifying how important the youth structure needs to be, coupled with the fact that he is giving young players a chance (And they're responding) means that this area should be the easiest area for MK to change quickly. Regardless of the RFL report, which is pretty vague on exactly what is needing to be addressed, although I wouldn't dispute it, we are producing good quality young players. Sneyd, Evalds, Turner, Fages, Walne, Ratchford etc. So on the playing and coaching side of things we can't be doing too badly.
What I think the problem is is the connection and flow between the Academy and the first team. I think Harris will address this in the pre-season and implement cohesive training and ballwork between both sets of players. At least I hope so, anyway. Without someone who is directly connected to the Academy to comment it's hard to discuss exactly where we fall down. For the long term, we need to get this bit right as soon as possible.

I would have thought congratulations were in order to those youngsters who have overcome the obvious hurdles
at Salford to succeed;as well as congratulating the staff working under such constraints.
Heartily sick of St Helens followers prattling on about their academy and all players being born in the town and playing all their career at Saints after being developed through the Academy.Wonder why Mcmanus keeps appointing Australians as head coach if everything is rosy in the garden regarding all things rugby league?
Anyway, the Academy system is changing.I don't have the official link but here is a recent debate

I don't know how this will affect SRD due to the mushroom syndrome.

If you go back through the posts made on here around the start of the season, you'll find very few Salford fans believing we'd finish in the top 4. Most were saying we'd be happy with 8th. What did we fall for then, and what are we continuing to fall for?

Marwan identified the weaknesses in Salford's academy set up very early on (I remember him referring to it in one of his 'open days'). He wanted to bring Shane Flanagan over for a three month stint to address the issues, but visa difficulties meant there wasn't sufficient time left for him to come over once he finally received that visa. The club have said they're in weekly contact with him, and Iestyn will be going over to work with him during the close season. Beneath the eye-catching stuff like the marquee signing, Marwan is actually doing the things people think he should do.

Why have you not told us this before? Everyone's been wondering what happened to it (including you, probably), and here you are, fully in the loop and clued up.

Aye, I'm sure he's referring to Gareth Owen, and maybe Jon Ford too. Nobby's most baffling decision - even more than sending Niall Evalds out - was to send Gareth Owen - a player with a full season of SL experience behind him - out on season long loan.
I can't see any if the other players mentioned being targets since they play in positions we're already OK in.
