Outrageous to play the game during the season. We shouldn't even be playing this meaningless game during pre-season, but to play it at a crucial stage of our league campaign is ludicrous. I really really hope we have a serious rethink. Doubt I'll be going.

I think this concept is a great idea.

However, to gain maximum publicity, it should be a big club rather than a Salford taking part.

With all due respect, Salford aren't one of the 3 or 4 elite clubs in our sport who are known through out the UK.

Would think both clubs would put out their acadamy players

All I can say is, look how many of the Wigan team ended up trying Union, and some being lost forever in coaching.

I don't think Sale will, it will be a very useful preseason exercise for them to play against fitter, faster and more skilful players. It will benefit them.

Not enthused by this at all. The only benefit I see is to the respective charities. I suppose it keeps the Red Devils in the National press too. Not sure what these games prove though. They'll win playing Union and we'll win playing League.

It doesn't bring us closer it just highlights the differences. Pointless exercise.

Plus it puts one half of the spectators at a disadvantage because they'll have to watch 40 mins of scrums, lineouts, and aerial ping pong.

Saints did this with Sale over 10 years ago and it was dreadful.
Dr K might want Sale to win it but they won't. Sale will have unlimited tackles (phases) and Salford limited to 6 tackles then handover the ball.
Sale 35 mins of ball in Union half, Salford 20 mins of ball in League half.
So Sale will have 55 mins of possession and Salford 25 mins.
Sale know what's going to happen as they've done it previously, People at Salford mustn't have a clue when agreeing to this.
If they want an equal contest then both teams must have unlimited tackles.
I think at Saints, they were nilled in the Union half and Sale were nilled in the League half.
Save your money for a Cup run or the play offs.
This is one to avoid!
