| Surely though moving to a 6k seater stadium in Swinton would be a non starter if he wanted to stay in SL, isn't there a minimum size requirement? and I doubt a stadium of such a size would allow the income to run the club at the full cap season in season out.
Not entirely sure making such a threat was a good thing to do as it doesn't appear to well thought out.

| Quote TheButcher="TheButcher"I have a feeling that the Dr is trying to get some leverage with regards to our Stadium. It's no secret that he wants Salford to own their own ground and maybe sees hinting at a move as a way of progressing things.'"
What I don't follow with the purchase why the council don't sell, they are struggling financially so I'm sure recouping money on an investment would be a good thing for them. I can't make out Peels play in all this though, it is widely reported that the stadium isn't making money but it would appear to be that Peel are not willing to sell, for me there can only be some form of ulterior motive for them not selling, I mean after all isn't planning permission for their main goal in the area Port Salford all secured?

He was asked a question about moving Salford away from the stadium. He replied never say never. The question was ambiguous because the interviewer didn't ask if he intended to move Salford to Swinton, just if he would move us. It's not online anymore so can't confirm this, but that's what I took out of the interview.
I'll stand corrected though if he did actually say a move to Swinton.

| What if decided to move the club out of the city and say to a proposed stadium at Eastlands hence the lack of 'Salford' on the official logo? Interesting.

Why would he move the club away from Barton when his sole interest - as identified by experts on the Warrington forum - is to develop the land around the stadium? Must admit, I can't quite see how spending money on a squad, coaching team, backroom staff and gymnasium makes that happen, but I'm sure it does.

| Are you for real? It's tough enough being located where we are geographically to Man United and Man City let alone moving bang next door to Man City. I also didnt realise Eastlands was a hot bed for RL.
I have lost count how many times Koukash has said he will always preserve the heritage and history of the club, including it's name.

I stand slightly corrected I suppose. But the questioning/editing was a little loose. I still think the Dr means that if we had to he would consider it, but not necessarily at a future Swinton stadium.

| Butcher - the root to this still in his original intention:-
To create a success SL powerbase , with development & income streams to support it.
It's obvious his ambitions to aquire the Barton Stadium & devlopment land around ( or enough of it ) to provide those income streams aren't proceeding as quickly or cheaply as desired ,
smacks of leverage re the ' New Stadium '

Was my initial thought too.
