Don't agree with this. Can't believe after just one home game we have decided to close the east stand for selected games. The east stand, especially with it being unreserved seating, is ideal to be used as some sort of community/family stand to get kids in on free/discounted tickets and get them interested in RL. For years the club have claimed they can't get families down to the willows because of poor facilities etc, and now we have the facility we are closing the most suitable stand. Surely the games that will attract the lowest crowds (London and Catalan) are the games we should be looking to try and boost the attendance at, rather than meekly accepting that it will be a low crowd. It is like the club consider these games as a write off crowd-wise and rely on big away followings from the likes of Wire and Wigan to boost the crowd average, rather than trying to get a few extra home fans in.

I'm in West Stand block 6 (left hand end as you look at it from the pitch) and always willing to join in a bit of singing. I moved from the shed to seats at the willows a few years ago when i started bringing the kids and missed the singing. Have to say I was quite impressed that there was some singing in the block I was in when we scored the first against Cas and even more after the disallowed try so I'm quite hopeful that if we get a good result then the singing will come. Hopefully we'll find out on Friday

Where has this 'info' about the East Stand closing come from? I know people with season tickets in there, surely the club aren't just going to move everyone out after they've chosen to sit over there?

Anyone who has asked to move their season tickets into the east stand has been told they can't because it won't be open for every match.

Well the West stand holds 5k, 2k behind each goal so thats 9K if we are running at 6k / 7k there will be loads of space for community / family to watch, you want everyone to be in the same stand reaily, at the willows you had 90% of salford fans in the shed with the sponsors in the Austin Truman stand it always felt that side of the ground felt different a bit isolated from the atmosphere imo.

Reaily the plan should be to invite everyone you know to get to games attendances get up to 9k /10k attendees they will have to open the East stand at that point everyone is happy



i asked the stadium manager while negotiating if / where we could put the banners up in the ground, it was 3 weeks ago mind so if its open friday dont shoot the messanger

I thought the "Singers" were behind the sticks ? I was in the big stand at the Cas game and to be honest you could here a pin drop noise wise from the barely half full singers stand.

The big stand is no worse noise wise than the singers stand but the added bonus is a great view of the match.

Thought the atmosphere in the South Stand was ok for a 1st go, probably standard compaired to last season.
i think if we get both stands making good noise then it will further enchance the match day experience for all.
The View in the West stand is amazing it has to be said but i would feel bad for the people around me if i was jumping up and down every 30 seconds when somthing happens they have paid to watch the game not for me to obstruct their view

That'll be a shock for those already sat in there, then. Unless there's been confusion about which stand they're actually in.

Don't think many people would be too keen on taking a school trip in the middle of the standing section. If we have to close the east stand then should at least make one block of the main stand some sort of family section with cheap kids tickets etc.
