It was dire. Possibly the worst I've seen. We didn't appear to have a forward on the field. We were totally out-played, out-muscled and out-thought. It looks like being a long, hard season.

We did not seem able to do the basics of running, passing and catching the ball! Some of our tackling (I use the term loosely) out wide was beyond belief.

Here's hoping things can only get better.

not missed a home match in 3 years, traveled from the far side of tameside for every game, and today payed £5 to park the car. an they produce rubbish like that, how do you inspect to increase crowds from the m60 catchment area when the team is basically a laughing stock. if my wife needs her car for work,me an sons will be expected to use public transport to cross manchester to watch that? i dont think so!! pathetic pathetic pathetic eazier to get to huddersfield an i never thort id say that

On the flip side to this when we had a pre-season result simillar to this it was against Warrington and that season we should have been relegated. As a Leyther I am over the moon with todays result but I'm not reading to much into it. There is a long way to go.

I've seen Saints lose enough friendlies to know that it means nowt.

Difference is this was the first match in our new ground and the performance was beyond words. Are the coaching staff and players so thick in the head that they do no realise the commercial implications of such a bad performance as today. This lot are taking the complete p*ss and they should be fined a months wages after today. Totally unprofessional they have let the club down badly and should suffer like the rest of us.

Fully agree! Salford will not be the last to lose a friendly match, yes it is disappointing in a new stadium which should be a Fresh Start! but this is what Friendly matches are for to get a team match practice and to know each other!

To be fair, If I remember rightly Wire had Briers, Bridge, and a '3 or 4' other 1st teamers playing. Today, BOTH teams had just 'a few' missing, and one is in the championship.

Really I can't believe people get so worked up about a friendly.

We have lost in previous seasons to Swinton....... If the players are ready by the time Cas visit I couldn't care less about this result.

Forgive me but do you not realise that their was some potential wealthy new sponsors in attendance today who witnessed that sham. I heard Mr Trafford Centre (Whittaker) was in attendance for the first ever time and he witnessed that sh*te. I doubt he will be coming back or getting his cheque book out! F*ck it's a friendly there is a much bigger picture and they have just blown it big time!

John Whittaker knows all about the team, nothing he saw today will surprise him. He owns the stadium and has been involved for many years

Sponsors spend money for a number of reasons and one pre seaon friendly wont change that. They are looking at the facilities and whether they can conduct business there.

A box where they can entertain is worth it, they don't care that much about the on field performance.
